    Great!
Quite a immense list of changes. Also nice to see some things indicating the Mac Mini release gets closer (HFS support, tool for 1 button mice).
Sacrificing now the warm sunny summer day for updating to 2.3...

    @maurensen

Plenty of hardware comes without an eject button, and the sbar also works for dismount of smbfs shares and isos.

You may not noticed, but this is not a clone of the more or less useless Eject button on MacOS.

Eject allows to eject/unmount all kinds of devices. e.g. unmount samba shares, cd mounts and usb sticks.

It also allows to close the drive again on second push.

And BTW, Even MorphOS 1.4.x was able to Eject CDs by right clicking on the drive icon and selecting eject. So even MorphOS 1.4 was prepared for Mac Mini :)

I'm not able to try different usues of eject sbar because I don't have a machine able (for now) to run MorphOS (look at my sig).

2.3 is probably what morphOS 2.0 should have been, it's faster, more reliable, i could even use my efika yesterday without unplugging/replugging the mouse every 5 mins...
thanks to the team for this great update, OWB 1.4 rocks too !

Cool to hear that, Soundsquare. Faster and more reliable is always good. I am having some trouble but am getting help from a MorphOS Team person on IRC. I run MorphOS on a Peg2 G3 w. Radeon 7500 and 256 megs of RAM. In firmware, in 2.2, I had set the RAMDEBUG 2D option because the gfx enhancements slow me down terrible. In 2.3 however, this option was removed or something. So I had a horrible time with extreme Ambient slowness and possibly other issues. I have a partial fix now and am hoping to get it running entirely well soon.

    Very good news! :-)

I'm looking forward to do a clean install with this one! (Hope to do it in a few days, I'm busy doing paint jobs on my house and will only DL this one when I have a complete day solely for the purpose of setting it up and exploring it)!

Keep it up, MorphOS Team! Mac Mini next, yes? :-)

what partial fix? anyway why dont you use the "enhanced display" checkbox in prefs/screens? you can set 3d/2d for all screens in realtime by ticking/unticking the checkbox.

    sadddam.

Well, best to lay it out like this.

    1. I have a Peg2 G3 that had 128 megs RAM when I purchased MorphOS 2.0.

    2. 2.0 ran well for me, but I upgraded (skipping 2.1) to 2.2, which was hella slow because of the 3D gfx-acceleration features of Ambient. I was able to fix this by using SET-ENV adding a RAMDEBUG 2D command in OpenFirmware, and then 2.2 ran well.

    3. I upgraded to 256 megs RAM to run OWB better, and that went okay.

    4. I downloaded the 2.3 update and used IWizard to install it. IWizard didn't copy the boot.img from the CD because I have my boot.img file in a separate partition in accordance with the MorphOS Quickstart Guide at morphos-news.de. This worked well in the past but now is considered unusual or even weird by some MorphOS devs. IWisard did not recognize any problem. I guess it copied boot.img to my SYSTEM: partition and didn't know any better.

    5. Previous MorphOS 2.x CDs have autobooted and run quite well on my system. However 2.3 does not, freezing at some title bar screen. I was able to use a previous CD to copy over the 2.3 boot.img to my special partition.

    6. So I booted with everything now in place but experienced incredible slowness. I was advised by a dev that the RAMDEBUG 2D command had been done away with. Or something. Not wanting to complain, but people were using that option; I'm sure others than me were using it.

    7. So sure the answer then is "just turn off the gfx enhancements in screen prefs," but the system is literally too slow to get to those prefs. The pull-down menus don't operate right. I think the system became too slow for them to operate. But a dev points me to a text file where I can type in "compositing=no" at the end and that evidently turns off gfx enhancements.

    8. After that the system booted fine and was responsive, but the system locks up when I move an icon. I can open drawers, launch programs, and run stuff fine, but not move icons. That means instant system freeze.

    9. My gfx card was viewed as a possible culprit by some devs on IRC. The card is either a Radeon 7500 AGP or Radeon 7000 AGP (it doesn't say on the card, and websearching for the part number wasn't conclusive right off). I've got several cards and hadn't mucked with that in a while so I wasn't really sure. I'm still not and it's back in the case right now and I'm not going to work on that this morning. It's a 7000 or 7500.

    10. I should have known better because there was nothing at all wrong with my card (which worked fine with previous MorphOS 2 versions) but I pulled the card to change it for another in hopes of solving my icon freeze problem. During the card changing (I tried 2), for which I carefully powered down but admittedly didn't use any static wrist-strap, the Pegasos ceased to function. I just get a black screen now. It could be the power supply, or the Pegasos could be dead.

Well, that took a while, but now you know. I am willing to try a new power supply and running null-modem cable for serial debug out put to some other computer, but can't do it today.

thanks for the update, it works really good! especially usb devices are working better than before, and i like the possibility to define for each single screen if it should use 3d layer.

Nice to see a new release! I am still sitting here on the side lines and waiting for a Mac Mini release so I can start using it again.

If and when its released it will suppoir all the G4 minis right? I have a 1.42GHZ version.

At least that's what the MorphOS Team members have said a thousandandone times. I see no reason to doubt that it's true.

Now installed (painless upgrade from MOS2.2). Even my netlamps preferences were still there after the upgrade :-)

Just upgraded 2.2 to 2.3 in my Efika :D

Just a stupid question... How do you buy a key? At the help desk,
    http://morphos-team.net/faq.html

they say how much it costs, but not how to buy it.... Writing directly to the developers? To which one of the addresses? support at morphos-team.net ?

BTW, am I the only one who thinks 150 euro is a bit expensive? I know it's a very very small market, but still if I compare with the 30$ of the Snow Leopard upgrade....

Any news on the Mac mini port?
