Archive : : Ignition Spreadsheet Goes Open Source

Ignition is a powerful spread-sheet application for AmigaOS 3.0 and higher. It should also run fine on MorphOS. It's open source and licensed under the GNU General Public License, version 3.

From the author Axel D?rfler :

Over the past 12 years, ignition has been developed by me (Axel D?rfler/ pinc Software), and Alexander Bartz, who accompanied me in the first few years, but has left the Amiga a long time ago. Due to limited time, I came to the conclusion that trying to create an open source project around ignition is the best option to ensure its future existence and maintenance. Now, I finally found the time to do so. I hope that, over time, a few people will find interest in further developing ignition. I plan to stay around, and make sure to answer any questions that pop up, and eventually submit a patch myself.

This spreadsheet seems to work well with MorphOS 2.1. The GUI is not MUI driven.

Honestly, I've never even tried Ignition, but by looking at the screenshots--I have to wonder how it flew under the radar. The images look really good, and I will most certainly try it out. I hope it supports ARexx ;-)

It seem's to have no excel compatibility as far as files are concerned, but load and save functionnalities seem's to be based on plugins... So you just have to write your own excel plugin ! :)
