150Euros? Uberexpensive! I guess most of people will simply pirate MOS2.0 (specially in east-europe countries... you don't really know how much 150Euros are don't you?).

111Euros is expensive but I will buy one license for the Efika. The peg1 will run 1.4.5 until it dies.

    Good job anyway.

And some people doubted you ;-)

Good job. Shame I am now in a financial situation where purchasing MOS2 is impossible. Oh well have to go with 1.4.5 till the car is paid and see what I want for christmas. Once again congrats, its been a long wait.

Congrats guys...looks like a nice release!

shame I don't have a system I can run it on now :-/

    150EU = $230+ right now anyway...so it'd be a non-starter here..back when I cared was hoping for around $100 to $150 heh

I wonder what would happen if my Efika breaks and I bought another... would the license allow me to use it on the replacement Efika or would I have to buy another license? If it's the latter MOS-Team will sell even less copies.

Is the key "personal" or per-machine?

It is per machine. If key was personal there would be quickly several clones of that person :-P

Is the 150 euro price real or a joke?
that's almost 1/3 of the price I paid for a dual core 2 T7100 laptop with 2 Gb memory, 160 Gb HD with vista.

    @Itix

then please fix MorphOS web page text where it states that the license is "personal".

Do you have an answer to my question? What happens if my Efika dies and I wanted to run MOS on a new one?

You contact the MorphOS developers to try to sort it out on a case-by-case basis.

    @Jobbo

It still states that the key is personal and not per-machine, perhaps it's due to my connection.

    Code:
Please note that a personal MorphOS 2.0 key is available at 111,11 EUR as an introductory offer. On Tuesday, the 15th of July, the price will go up to 150 EUR.

    Code:
You contact the MorphOS developers to try to sort it out on a case-by-case basis.

    thanks.

111 euros? And 150 after Jul, 15? Kill me...

Also, tell me, how can I use russian language? I can read and write text in russian in MOS1.4.5, but I can't do it in MOS2.0!!!

I can't believe all the complaining about the price of MOS2.0. We all knew, by the poll and other comments it would be in this price range.

Which is really nothing, these guys can't live on this, and they released it on time.

Amazing to see that we complain that we don't have MOS2.0, and now that it is here we complain about the price! Look at windows vista or mac osx, they are more money.

As I said, simply amazed at the complaints...

    Great Job MOS Team!

I'm afraid Vista would still win in the comparison (it has more features).

I would have expected Mac Mini version being slightly more expensive but I would never expect that Efika (read: a toy) license would cost as much as a proper desktop one (read Peg2/G4).

AS I said before... the price is too high but you have done a good job. Thank you

When OS4 costs 98 EUR (link) and it is just for PowerUp I think 111.11 EUR for MorphOS 2.0 is just about right. Not cheap, but right.

What is not right is this per-machine-blocking scheme.

I have got three pegasos, and two efikas. I think I am not the only one in this case. So, should I spend 750? in copies for them? oh, get a life.

I regret to say this, but I will not purchase anything until (hopefully) this severe limitation is removed.

    Anyway, good work.

I think if they would been released MOS2 several years ago, it would have been too late already.
There is almost no userbase and no market left. The 150euro seems to be reasonable for such a small market, but I can't understand something. If these guys were not working for money (we know they weren't, as it's a hobby project), why are they asking now such a high price and giving another slap to the platfrom's expansion?

As for me, if they will release an iBook/MacMini version, I may consider to try it out (for a lower price). I was tired of waiting, already sold my Peg away...

Understandable. But allowing registered MorphOS 2.0 to run on more machines would render copy protection useless.

OS4 costs 89Euros, not 98 The problem is that next month OS4 will still cost 89 Euros and MorphOS will cost 150 Euros.

An USB dongle would be a much better solution for users with various machines. And if your machine dies or you decide to upgrade you simply move the USB key to other computer.

Thank you MorphOS Team! You did a great job!
The price seems pretty high, but lets face it. if you can spend about 500 euros for a pretty old and used PPC machine
you'll also should be able to pay those 111 Euros for MorphOS. Finally we can use and hold MorphOS in our hands. No more waiting and doubting.
Of course its their hobby, but they share their hard work with us and want to get rewarded for that. Just save a lil bit money or sell your old A1200 and get that damn key.
This is the best moment to show your loyalty and support to MorphOS and its development.

    best regards cego

Now thats just silly comment. If one was able to spend 500 euros on a hobby four years ago has nothing to do with being able to pay 150 euros more today.

But the price is what it is and thats fine by me. Sadly, I think this will kill interest towards MorphOS from many old users, and just like me they are selling their Pegs away. Which of of course isnt't such a bad thing, new fresh blood is always welcomed :-)

its really boring to read everyone complains about the price! im currently unemployed with almost no monthly income, but i will manage to pay for the key. its simply worth it and the team deserves it!

"i was tired of waiting", "wont buy it", "too late too high price" - all darm bs! its an important piece of software, the most important abnd you dont have to buy it at every two months - probably you wont have to pay again for morphos about years!

who cares that vista cost less? vista is piece of shit and you can always pirate any version of windows (in my opinion you must pirate it:) - it cost nuttin.
for example stuff made in china will always cost far less than western-europe made stuff. and everybody knows that quality costs. apple's crap machines costs twice as much (or more) than a taiwan peecee - nobody complains. ppl just buy them.

stop crying ppl, support mos-team and support your dreams! its not like throwing the money out of the window... (anyway, when a simple ticket for a match of the european football championship costs 1000 euros, what the frack are you talking about???)

WOW! I am stuck in Afghanistan and cant get a key for now, so I have to pay $230 at todays Euro to $ prices. Thats a bit much for me when I can get a family pack for OS X and install on several machines for much less. I would have thought we could at least put it on a couple machines. I have an Efika nd a Peg2 that will not sit in storage for a bit longer. What a shame, I am very excited about this release too.

    Hullo all

Long time no see to most of you!

I may not have been on the MOS scene (apart from the occasional flit into IRC recently) much for the past year, but I still have my machine. I still love it. And I know the developers of MOS and other programs like Poseidon (Chris Hodges) and MUI and Showgirls work very hard for those software updates they provide!

I have to say that I truly doubted that MOS 2.0 would ever surface. I'm very very glad to see that I was proved wrong. I havn't been using my Peg 2 because it's sitting over there ----> out of reach of my PC that I use all the time. That will change - it's getting moved next to the PC and a supported shelf is being errected for the (damned heavy) monitor.

I shall be buying MOS 2.0 even though ?88 (111 Eur) is a fecking lot of money for me atm. It might not be a huge amount of money but when you don't have much it is quite a bit! And yet I'll manage. I havn't even installed MOS2.0 yet! It's downloaded, it's burnt to CD, it's sitting on my desk 12 inches away - but I know I'm buying it.

Those of you complaining think about why your complaining. You've kept your Pegasos and MorphOS because you Love it, not through need. Lets face it the Amiga scene has always been a struggle, for every one piece of software that comes out on the Amiga five alternative ones appear on Windows and some of them actually do things better, or if not better then quicker, with more updates and possibly better support. There's more options and of course every new thing is written for it! Miggy uses plod on regardless.

Why do you still have/use your Pegasos machines if you don't intend to support its developers?

I say a hearty thanks to all those involved in this MAJOR update - and that's exactly what it is. This isn't some minor tweak or bugfix, this is the culmination of two or three (I honestly forget how long its been since 1.* came out) years of hard work where their families and friends have had to put up with them spending long hours at the keyboard. I think that deserves a bit of a pat on the back and some money - and lets not forget that 111/150 Eur is being SPLIT between a number of people. I've no idea how many, but if it's 3 then they each get 37 Eur (?30) - that's barely enough to buy them and their missus a dinner in a restaurant one evening!! Perspective is what's called for here.

That's my rant overwith. I hope to be speaking to more of you again soon and reconnecting old friendships soon. Once my Peg2 is upgraded to MOS2! :-)

Look guys, go enjoy MOS 2.0 and pay as much as you like for it, I don’t care anymore.
Even if they drop the price to 1 euro, the fun is just over for me. The price was just the last thing that made me realise that.

The price seems pretty high, but lets face it. if you can spend about 500 euros for a pretty old and used PPC machine you'll also should be able to pay those 111 Euros for MorphOS.

I know a lot of people who bought Efika because it was cheap and they invested around 100Euros. Nobody expected to pay more money for the software than they did for the hardware. And if you add the cost of graphics cards, PSU, case... it's a lot of money for a computer that doesn't allow you to perform all the tasks you need.

With a Pegasos at least you can do more stuff, but Efika is pretty limited and comparing G4 with Efika owners is stupid.

For me way of paying is nonacetable. Paypal suxx, in Poland. I must use my credit cart to activate account. I don't care enougth this institution, to get access to my credit card. I'm sorry, I'm not intristing in buying Morphos in this way.

Of course 111.11 euros is not cheap, but it is hard for me to imagine that I would piracy MOS2.0.
I am living in Poland, i am earning money close to polish average salaries, but I am have for my MOS2.0 key.
... as many polish friends of mine.

    Hi Crumb,
Does MOS2.0 run well on your Efika? I'm curious to know. Maybe I might want to see MOS2.0 here instead of Amiga OS4.1. Isn't that what shopping around is all about! :-D
