Cecilia, a special effects artist and MorphZone member, recently attended the DC show, and shares her thoughts and comments with us.

I was at the Washington DC Pegasos Technology Event held this past weekend. Had a great time, btw. I thought I'd let you all know that I brought my new FujiFilm FinePix A200 digital caqmera with me. it connects via USB to my Windows2000 laptop with software.

However - just to see if it was possible, I connected it to one of the Pegasos/MorphOS systems at the show and, guess what???? with NO additional software (a driver), the OS read my camera as if it was removable media. Just the way MorphOS reads my zip drive (also USB). well, this is great news for me! I don't know how YOU feel, but I'm happy! :-)

If any of you want to try this with any of your cameras, just be sure you have fat95 installed (from aminet) as these cameras format their memory cards in that funny PC format. Not all cameras are made to be seen as removable drives, but it's worth a try to check, yes?

i had a similar case, my father-in-law came to visit us after
a trip to sweden because one relative of his just got a new baby,
and he had pics with him on a digital camera. He looked after
a place to plug in the usb plug on my pegasos, because he
wanted to show the pics (in my head i was then in panic planning my google search after digital camera software) but it worked without doing anything, the pics where right there in the /camera device.

I had a similarly pleasant experience. My cousin was visiting from
Canada and plugged his camera strait into my pegasos and downloaded
some pictures.

that's great!
as an aid to others I'd ask you and anyone else that has found a camera that works to list the name of the camera.

i mean, THERE are some cameras that won't work this way - like those kodak cameras that a driver had to be made by Christopthe GENRE.

btw, if your digital camera doesn't get recognized as mass storage device (like my Samsung) you should be able to disconnect memory card, connect it to compatible memory card reader, and connect that to Pegasos. That should work with most cameras (Some use propietary file format, but not many, afaik)

Oh yeah... At Assembly 2003 we were showing some animations with mplayer, including "legodancer.avi"

One guy thought it was very funny (Well, it is...), and wanted it. So, we just plugged his USB memory to Pegasos, and copied it there.
