People say Macintosh or Apple is evil the same way others say Windows and M$ are evil. Are they all evil . . . ? ? ? ?

Apple: Some just didn't like the way Apple did business. As in keeping a tight hold on their market, which I was fine with. They wanted the experience on a mac to be good, p&p, easy to use so you could be productive. Something that was very hard to do on early win'tell machines. However I did not like the corporate jockeys that ran Apple (late 80's/early 90's) for some of there designs, like purposely crippling some models performance. The Color Classic should have arrived in 87. But in general they made quality hardware.

M$: Well they wouldn't have had windows if they hadn't (allegedly) stolen a early copy of OS 6 and reengineered it. Did you guys follow the lawsuit? When the Judge said there were not going to be any more delays and set a court date for the shoot out. M$ settled out of court with Apple, behind closed doors. Apple was on it's death bed, like all those other companies they screwed, wronged, violated and Killed (limiting my choice in the computer world).

The settlement was Huge. Apple got back the Steve's. NeXT and a share in M$ code.

    Who's More EVIL . . . ? ? ? ?

I don't believe any of the hardware is evil. But Apple (possibly evil) and M$ (definitely evil) are possibly a different story.

    I know I don't like Windows as an OS, and have never liked M$ (my bayous ?) . But PC hardware is cool now'a'days . . . . :-)

Once Jobs stop making payments to PARC?
    They were about the same.
Both basing their products on stolen ideas.

Not to mention the Jobs was a nob.

:) :) Thanks. Glad you all just like the hardware... I wasn't a fan of OS X or anything passed OS 9, but meh.... Those days are long gone. Just as the wars of 16-bit consoles are gone. The new generation systems are fighting after "who has what game" instead of how powerful the hardware is. :)

OK...(he says as he kicks at the floor), I guess I do like them.
Especially if i don't have to put up with OSX (which runs most stuff slower than MorphOS).
And the G5 has my vote as the only computer system that could be used to render a blunt force trauma, and still work when plugged back in.

Modern Mac hardware is troublesome from the standpoint of being able to replace batteries and so forth. Their older hardware, however, is very well done--Especially the G4 towers.

We aren't really using apple's software, so I don't think it's 'evil' to use older hardware--especially since we aren't paying apple anything--just giving former owners some well deserved repayment for the initial cost-outlay they made for our benefit!

I updated my iPhone to 7, I now can't transfer files from my PPC Powermac.

I can't downgrade my iPhone to a version I can.

Apple are evil. Their old hardware, less so.

I must disagree: "Trusted Platform Modules" and other hardware-based Digital Restrictions Management systems are evil hardware. Malware etc. is evil software, by definition.
