iBook issues

    Hi all,

yesterday I have bought MorphOS for my new old iBook. First I have to say, I love it! Fastes OS I have every seen (besides Amiga OS ;-) ) and it is great to be able to get the original Amiga look back (after some configuration ;-) ).

    But I have two issues:

First, on my german keyboard I have a hash key (#). But pressing it gives me |. There is no way to get the hash (besides using the utility Keystroke). That is annoying when writing C ;-).

Second problem is my network. Sometimes it does not get a connection to my ethernet, not even an IP. After one or two reboots everything is fine.

If there is a doc how to read out the character codes and how to edit a keymap maybe I can help.

Im having similar issues with iBook and Finnish keybord. Last time I checked, there was no public tool to create keymaps.

Other issues Im having, iBook is running constantly at 50C and the wrist area is uncomfortably hot. Touchpad is not working, I have to use ShiftClick. Keeping the modifier down when clicking menu item do nothing. I have to release the modifier before clicking.

Panels deadlock the system with 100% cpu when double clicking the zipping button. Dragging panels to last position in ambient prefs it not working. Speaking of Ambient prefs, "Get from window" window setting is still not workin. I think I reported that bug 2 releases ago.

Is the keyboard an usb or adb keyboard. If usb, you can easily change keybindings within Poseidon's preferences (Poseidon->Devices-Keyboard). For ADB keyboard's I think that Geits MMKeyboard tool could do the trick, but don't know (my powerbook has an usb keyboard), its original intention is to define hotkeys for actions not for characters.

MorphOS' keymaps are opensource. You can grab the current sources at http://www.morphos-team.net/downloads
    More specifically the file http://www.morphos-team.net/files/src/3.2/keymaps.tar.bz2

Then you are able to change them and eventually submit a fix. Or just create a new keymap.

Looks good. But compiling fails because it needs an makefile.global. Maybe I need something that is not open source?

Not listed in Poseidon, so its ADB.

While finding out the rawkey values I noticed LSHIFT + RSHIFT ($0060) and LAMIGA + RAMIGA ($0066) gives the same rawkey. This can't be right?

It is correct this way. There is no left amiga. As both ADB keys deliver the same value, it is impossible to find out if the left or right was used. The right one is the most use (menu hotkey), so we took that one.

Thats the reason why the normal reset combination is not working, but there is the power button as replacement.
