Anyone care to explain how you can be able to watch YouTube on OWB?

It says I need to install flash Player - does it exist for MorphOS?

    Thanks anyone

You have to explicitly tell YouTube that you want HTML5 video instead of flash. I can`t quite remember how you do that off the top of my head but a simple shortcut is to set OWB to spoof an ipad - that works for quite a lot of other sites too.

    It's at http://www.youtube.com/html5

Also don't forget the scrips for OWB, they come in handy too!

    Windows- scripts then add

Or use getvideo, which gives a smooth playback..... HTML5 is a bit stuttering in window-mode.....

You need to put the plugin in the plugin folder swfdec plugin.library OWB and activate your scripts!
I see no problems videos on yputube.com and are converted directly without problems never used the link youtube flash 5!

In full-window mode it's only few % slower than with MPlayer.

Hi Andreas, thanks for the link

I downloaded this plugin file and placed it in the folder Plugins ( applications\OWB\Plugins)

    Is that correct?

Yes, as long as you didn't place the LHA archive itself but the plugin file contained inside the archive.

The trouble comes from Youtube directly trying to see witch browser you are using.
Go to the settings window and spoof as IPAD (in German Browser-Kennung).
You have to put the swfdec_plugin.library in your Plugins drawer.

@Andreas RE:as you didn't place the LHA archive itself but the plugin file contained inside the archive.
A: No I unzipped it there. Sorry I was unclear and thanks for pointing it out.

A: Its a bit unclear to me how to do this. Is that the settings\system window? Can you elaborate, thanks :)

    Way I did it.

Download scripts from fabs site http://fabportnawak.free.fr/owb/scripts/

Add scripts on drop down menu.

Set browser to spoof as safari default.

Restart owb and every YouTube video should work as the script converts flash to html5 instantly.

If you are not sure scripts are working test using hello.js

your Browser is open, you click right mouse button, choose settings, in the 4th row there is "Browser-Kennung",
a new window comes up. There you can choose to tell the internet what kind of browser you are using.
    Set your mark to IPad.

    @Cocoon

but youtube.js is a converter so it converts flash to html5 on the fly

    From the script description
"Add links below the video and replaces FLASH with the bulitin HTML5 mediaplayer"

I have not found a single video on youtube that wont play.

    @TomKeric

A few points to maintain your sanity.

Scripts are activated in OWB using windows>scripts. (click the add button)

OWB global preferences (for pliugins and spoofing) are set in settings>preferences. ('content' and 'network' tabs respectively)
These can be over-ridden for a particular tab by changing the settings in settings>spoof-as and settings>plugins. (not required in this case, but useful info)

You can also override the global preferences for individual domains (eg www.youtube.com) using windows>url settings.

For the sake of stability you may want to set up the swfdec plugin ONLY for youtube. This can be done by disabling plugins in the global preferences, but enabling plugins for www.youtube.com in windows>url settings.

    Best regards

Thanks for the help everyone. It works much better now.

With the swfdec plugin some of the videos that was very hacky before on Youtube now runs smoothly.

I have 2 questions in the topic still:

    1) How do you get rid of the annoying error message on Youtube (right bottom) "Youtube download - Error Alert
There was an error and the files couldn't be loaded. Please copy the URL (address) and report the problem + URL to"

    2) Is anybody able to see this video that I can't: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pRVlUthxzrg
Someone said flashvideos can be converted on the fly - but this one is not converting for me at least?

    Hi TomKeric,

The error sounds like you are using an older version of the youtube EZ download script. Youtube updates (breaks) every so often - Fab (the OWB developer) is usually pretty prompt and updates the scripts within a day or so as/when that happens. Ensure that you have downloaded the latest scripts from http://fabportnawak.free.fr/owb/scripts/
They can also be updated with Grunch rather than visiting the link above.

The linked video works here. Smooth playback in fullscreen mode. Possibly the youtube html5 converter script (youtube.js) is also out of date? Also available from the link above.
I have Youtube html5 converter, youtube - EZ download, and Youtube fullscreen fix scripts enabled, with plugins disabled (but enabled for youtube.com in windows>url settings).

    Regards

    Rich

    @Boot_wb

    - Yes that made a difference. Now I can view the video on the link that previously was not working.

And also the error message on "download" is gone. But in it's place is an almost as annoying and even larger download overlay now.... (attached)

    Ram:Grab.png

anyone knows if it is possible to "turn off/on" ?

    Hi Tom,

Just disable the Youtube EZ download script (windows>scripts) - that should get rid of the overlaid window.

In fairness to Papiosaur (who maintains the Chrysalis pack) the scripts were last updated only a week and a half ago in response to youtube updating their site again.
