I am using a netgear ethernetadapter on my powerbook and this works nice.
Now I invested in a second ethernetswitch for my peg2 and I went the cheap way ebay and a non a brand.
Nevertheless there are more people usin g these so maybe someone can help me out.
I can acces the device and use the quick setup wizzard.
Now when I fill in the security method .wpa2 and the key to acces the router it gives me a statuslog which seems to be the end off the wizzard..only refresh button there.
There is no field in which I can set the desired network/router.
When I set it manually the desired router is detected and I select it but it returns to non connect and selecting the desired network/router.
    Please help

Try a different cable. I found I had trouble with the supplied cable-on-a-reel: often I couldn't save the settings, or the connection would be dropped intermittently.

Used another cable to no avail.
If only there was some manual in english.
I set the switch to client that's right yes?Used as a wifi receiver on my peg2.
Maybe setting up the client is not possible in quick setup?

Hi, I'm using a netgear ethernet router with powermac and since it has a wifi option, I connected a netgear access point to my Peg2 so to have a wireless connection working on it.
Now If I have understood correctly the problem is in your switch ethernet (wich receive signal from ethernet adapter): you wrote you can access to switch setup page and you set it as client and that is correct. Did you checked if it has the dhcp disabled?

I took one of this too and Got some problems. After I' changed its IP from 192.168.16.254 to 192.168.1.2 it worked. I don't know if this can help in you case.
Moreover it seems to not work with WEP encryption, I switched my router to WPA2.

You do know that WEP is blown wide open now don`t you? It`s literally a ten minute crack if the network is busy so WPA is probably best anyway.

Why a router with WPA2 encryption and custom password would be easy to crack?

It wouldn`t, you misunderstand me - I meant WEP is broken, so it`s good that you switched :o)

The manual that came with the router was totally inadequate iirc (a picturebook operation guide).

'Client' is the correct choice (out of AP/Router/Client).

I avoided the wizard and went straight for manual setup.
The menu systems are dreadful, but once set up is does work ok. Have you tried Wireless Settings>Site Survey? Select your desired network, then click 'add profile'.

Another alternative is to export your settings, edit them manually, and re-import them (Administration>Settings Management)

Mine is set up as in client mode, connecting to a wireless network called <Foobar> with password <password>:
I'd just copy and paste the relevant bits, since there's also DHCP, routing and MAC address information in the file.
(NB - the SSID and password appear twice in the settings)

Ok a few options to try out.
I have no button add profile in the site survey..there should be one?All I have is connect, rescan and disconnect there.
2 networks are detected including mine. When I try connecting my network it pauzes a while and then returns to main screen site survey with no selection off a network.
I'll try changing the ip adres and exporting, changing ,importing the configfile.
