If I buy a Powerbook that is supported by 3.0... will 3.0 be as "stable" and "compatible" as 2.7 with various Amiga/MorphOS software?

The reason I ask...I am going to sell my Mac Mini (wipe it out and install OSX, then Craigslist it if the answer to my question is YES)..... :-)

Also if the answer is YES.. would I just copy my keyfile from 2.7 to my Powerbook and voila, its regged?

on #2... but I do not need to pay again for 3.0, so I guess I will have to talk to MorphOS Team so they can transfer my registration.

Keyfiles can't be transfered between working HW.

Find someone interested in MorphOS to buy the Mini .

Even if I perfectly know that my MacMini key can't be transferred to the PowerBook and that I'll have to buy a new one (no news in this, on MorphOS this is the standard way to proceed) me too is interested to use the Powerbook as main Morphos machine when 3.0 will be out. This even because my Powerbook 5,8 will definitely be faster than any MacMini (cpu at 1,67Ghz, Ram DDR2, Radeon 9700..). For "main machine" I intend this: the powerbook on my desktop connected to external mouse, keyboard and Monitor used every day as a normal desktop computer. For this reason few weeks ago I asked to the MorphOS Team guys on the IRC channel if this is possible. The answer was that (at the moment I wrote) external monitors were still not supported/working. So, for my personal needs, this solution is still not good. Moreover as I read on announcements it seems that when external monitor ability will be here it will be possible to use it only in "Clone Mode", so I'll have to have both the displays switched on, this is totally not practical in my opinion. If we add the fact that in MorphOS 3.0 there will be still no 3D support for the Radeon 9700 (the Powerbook GFX board) in my case will definitely not be possible to replace the MacMini with the Powerbook.

Right..but I dont need to pay for MorphOS 3.0 since I have 2.7 registered. If I sell my Mini, then I need to pay for 3.0, which is why I said I'd wipe it and install OSX before I craigslist it. But I think you're saying that MorphOS devel doesnt know that I really did that so my hardware has to be broken in order to xfer the license or get a registered license for 3.0 since 2.7 is registered. If thats the case, I'll just keep my Mac Mini..it avoids me paying for MorphOS.

MorphOS licensing policy is an old story, strange you did not know it.

In every case your best option is to sell your Mac Mini to a Morphos user (or a new one) and add more or less the price of the license. You are not selling a MacMini, your are selling a MacMini+MorphOS license, it's different!

P.S. The person that will buy your mini can also have the name of the license changed to his one.

The license is for the hardware, not for the user. If you have a 2.7 license for your Mac Mini, then you will be able to use 3.0 on that particular Mac Mini for free, since already licensed hardware will be allowed to upgrade for free thanks to the generous (and a bit unexpected, at least to me, I was always sure a 2.x -> 3.0 version bump would require a new license) upgrade policy from the MorphOS team. If you sell the Mac Mini the license follows it. If you buy new hardware (like a Powerbook, or a second Mac Mini for that matter), then that hardware will need a license of its own.

    OH!! Ok.. I understand now.

I will buy 3.0 for a Powerbook then... once I am comfortable with its stability, compatibility..I will sell my Mac Mini system with 2.7 regged on it.

    Thanks for the clarification.
