Is anyone else having trouble getting a Soundblaster Live card to work (under MorphOS2.6) in their Powermac?

When I install my card, the mixer offers me the choice of onboard sound or the Soundblaster, but I get no sound when choosing the SB.

I tried using asecond card from another PC, but when that one is installed the mixer doesn't even give me an SB option.

I'm at a loss and I really don't like the low quality sound from the built in sound on the Powermac.

    Anyone have any ideas?

I'm also wondering about PCI sound cards for PowerMacs. Which ones have you folks had the best luck with. (sorry to jump on your thread Jim)

    Luky-amiga! You are the man!
I thought I'd set all the necessary options, but I missed that one.

The Soundblaster Live sounds SO much better!

Spihuinter, this is the card you want. They're available cheap (about $5 on Ebay). Usless you require a really high quality card like something based on the Envy24, this card is your best bet.

And, again, thank you my friend from the Czech Republic.

OK, now I have another problem. Only audio played through Mplayer plays through the Soundblaster. CXlicking on any file will play it but it appears to want to use the Apple sound system (and since the mixer is set to Soundblaster I get no sound at all).
Also, occasionally on rebooting my audio preferences are reset to Apple instead of Soundblaster.
Anyone got asny thoughts on these issues?

    @Jim

You probably forgot to set Sb live for the AHI units 0 to 3. MPlayer uses the musical unit (by default), which is the list displayed by default in AHI settings.

No, only SBLive with emu10k1 and Audigy with emu10k2 chips will work with the emu10kx driver.

    Thanks Fab.
I'll get a handle on the finer points of MorphOSas I use it nore.
Before, when I was running it on an eMac I only played around with it. Now with Powermac support I'm thinking of making it my primary OS.
Its so damned efficient it amazes me. Tasks that would have bogged down OSX on the same hardware work flawlessly under MorphOS.
Thanks for one seriously nice piece of software.

Yep, Soundblaster Live. It still sdupports 5.1 sound (even though I'm using 2 channel HiFi settings myself). Cheap, easily obtainable card. MUCH better sound quality than Apple built in sound.

Will other cards with the EMU10K2 work as well? Such as the Audigy ES, 2, 2 ZS, 4, 4 Pro, and 4 SE.

Also, is it possible to redirect the front signal to the rear outputs when using the Sound Blaster Live? (like when using the kX Project drivers under windows)

Does anyone tried any of that cards with MorphOS:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sound_Blaster_Audigy ?

As I'm not happy with M-Audio Revolution Drivers I have to look into something else.

Anyone using Audigy card please let us know :)

I just received my Soundblaster Audigy Model SB0090. I can't really see a chip with "EMU10Kx" on it, but if I put it in the powermac it is selectable under prefs/audio... I can assume then it's ok ? Teh big chip on the card says "creative audigy CA0100-IAF".

There is also a firewire port on the card that seems to be recognized by "Firewire Inspector"

Got it working ... maybe an option "set EMU10K" for all units wouldn't be a bad thing.

Ok, I resurrected this 3d because with lucky-amiga's help I managed to make the SB work under MorphOS because the internal speaker gave me no sound.
But now the irony... after a resarch on internet seems to me that the SB live has no support under OS X... any hint to have the sound working on both sides?
    Thanx in advance

No hope to get the SB Live working under MacOS so you should use internal audio for macos use..
