Well, it will very hard for Genesi to ply on the same market than
Apple or Microsoft for the moment, that's true. But I think it's more
because the Pegasos is unknow from most of people.

    - listenning to music (mp3/ogg).
No problemo : songPlayer (Let's make some ads !)

    - Watching DivX/TV:
There are Frogger and MPlayer for DivX.
For TV, never test my self, dunno

    - Word processing
This is indeed VERY important, let's hope Papyrus will come

    - Developpement
    There is Gcc for C/C++
    plus Vbcc

    - Manipulating photos
FxPaint, FxScan, VHI Studio: thx IOSpirit

Well, I've already make some test with "cowbay" (aka friends). I ask
them to use MorphOS, has they would use it. The resulsts is not bad.
Most of the people only wants to check their mail, and look for some
    stuff on the internet.
But, some person asked for Counter-Strike, Word Processing...

In the end, I think MorphOS with some improvements and some software
(word processing) can be use as a daily OS for anyone, but will
anyone have a chance to know MorphOS ?
    MorphOS Rulez !

    >so... don't you think the pegasos an outrageous
    >exorbitant solution to make run morphos ?

No, absolutely not, I think it's a damn good bargain.

Well you say at the beginning of this post you're thinking about buying an Apple Powerbook (which are from $1600 to $3300) and then talk about a $299 Pegasos board being exhorbitant? Your logic seems a bit mixed up to me..

    >Is there real cheap & recent hardware solution to
    >make run pegasos ????

Pegasos is the cheapest PowerPC-based machine I have seen. If you want cheaper still, you should probably forget PPC and get a x86 PC (but this won't wun MorphOS).

    >note: don't think i'm against morphos - i'd really
    >really like to use it - but i'm disappointed by all
    >money needed to make it run with decent
    >performance - that's all !

Well, compared with other PPC platforms (Apple Mac, AmigaOne) the Pegasos is very cheap and good value. And MorphOS has better performance on less hardware.

    Hi,

Priced hardware is not really something that makes sence here. Because it is not. I know you can get cheaper x86 hardware. But c'mon, you want to have that? :-)

Firstly where are you located? If in the USA you will be able to buy a complete system from us - magnetic systems. (www.magneticsystemsnyc.com)
We will be announcing system configurations and pricing very soon!

    To answer your questions:

    - listening music (mp3, ogg)

There are many solutions for this (all free) Kaya - an MP3 and Ogg player built into MOS ; AmiNetRadio which plays mp3s and allows you to stream mp3 streams from the internet, Songplayer as mentioned, and AmigaAmp a Winamp clone

    - watching TV & videos (divx)

For Divx and other movie files we have Mplayer (Linux port) Frogger NG, and Amp2

    - making some word processing or simple datas bases

YOu can purchase AmigaWriter which works well with MOS

    - developping with enough productivity in some standard langages (C/C++ at least)

    ask developers

    - manipulating photos imported from a digital camera
    - etc.

Many programs for this some bundled with OS in Superbundle as mentioned. YOU can also buy the excellent Image FX

If you have any questions about system purchase please contact me.

Urgh!! I wouldn't spend a single cent on this one (saying that as someone who did ...). I have already used the original MaxonWORD (hopelessly instable) and then bought it a second time after it was facelifted and renamed to AmigaWriter (still instable, ruined my docs more than once).

I'd recommend hunting down FinalWriter 97. I love the section management (only current section is shown at once, big help if you've got docs with hundreds of pages). Lack of Thesaurus and statistics function make AW unusable for people who really need them (I do ...). FW has both.
