Here's a thread dedicated to MorphOS on Efika.

Please post here you experience about MorphOS on Efika.

From what i get now (installed it this morning) :

    - very unstable

it often freezes, when moving windows, clicking on the ambient bar, or even without doing nothing (i leave my desk for 15 mins, come back and it's frozen).

    - no sound

it was reported that the sound driver wasn't included yet, it would have been nice to mention it somewhere.

    - 3D layers

I heard it's not included as well, anyway the system freezes when i move a window after enabling the "3D" at boot.

    - network

    some strange "pauses" when downloading.

I have to say that for all tests i made i kept the system clean and untouched (no 3rd party apps installed, nothing but pure MOS2.0)

    good things :

    - very polished, nice to use and nice to look at
    - sputnik rocks
    - fast, even on the tiny efika

suggestions : make it free for Efika, it's clearly not working well for now.

    I'm still testing mine.

I've removed the 3D option from the kernel to see if it helps with the crashes. However I didn't expirience any when moving windows.

I've also installed some stuff, like IBrowse (using it to post right now). Haven't noticed anything weird with regards to network.

    Will let you know.

Had some early lockups that only a hard reset could fix.
After downloading the latest efika.forth (hadn't seen it) I can fully appreciate the demo.
I'm guessing it had something to do with the USB bugs in the EFIKA firmware.

Nope, removing 3D didn't help. Just got a freeze.

I'm also running the latest efika firmware.

Just trying to install mos 2.0 on my efika, i got it installed with no problems on my PEG 2.
When i get to the partitioning part of the install neither ffs or sfs is present, what file system should i select?

i've been testing it further but the more i spend time with it and the more i think it's quite unusable on Efika.

I've discussed with other Efika owners who are also experiencing lookups, freezing etc. Playing with the prefs kills your system within a few mins.

It's a beta, or an alpha, but not a final release as far as the efika is concerned. I'm very disappointed actually.

You need to click on an icon next to the hard disk name (a magnifying glass). You must turn the disk from MBR to RDB, but this will delete your linux installation.

I am using Efika with MorphOS 2.0 for quite some time and its stable like hell. I don't know that the current issues are, but its working great.

The 3D hardware accelerated layers system has to be enabled via boot parameter.

if you installed it on your very first partition then :

    boot hd:0 boot.img

    for 3D :

    boot hd:0 boot.img 3D

Can't say that I've experienced any freezing or lockups after moving my usb hub.
The EFIKA can be very picky with mice and keyboards, especially if they're connected to a hub.

Unfortunately my Efika came with a SiS301 gfx card, which is not supported... I grabbed the Voodoo3 out of my a12k though and did the install. I could not get the network working when booted from the efikainstall image, so I downloaded the ISO and stuck it on the USB flash drive. The install completed without any issues after that. And I'm happy to report that once booted from the full install, the network is up and working fine. In fact, I'm posting this from sputnik.. :)

I got the 11MB image yesterday but didn't have time to play. After one or two false starts the image worked for me. After a bit of clicking around I realised I still needed the 130MB iso. I ended up formatting the hard drive, plugged it into my pc and recopied the image and iso with the help of WinUAE. I ran the install from the hard drive connected to the ide port and all is well.
PPC assembly ain't so bad... ;)

I think that using the parameter "3D" alone won't work and that you have to add something like 3D=Use3DLayers (I don't have the docs right here, but if you check out the readme you'll find it)

I don't have sound. It's a pity because as Efika is useless (too slow) for playing videos and I expected it could play at least a pair of MP3

3d alone works. You put either "Use3DLayers" or its short version "3d" (it's a readarg template).

About playback speed, i assume you use mplayer. If so, since audio driver is absent from this release, in the meanwhile, just add -ao null. Else mplayer seems to pick up some filesave audio id or so (haven't checked on efika yet), which would make playback very slow.

Of course, don't expect to read much more than 640x480 movies anyway (nor demanding codecs like h264), but below it should be fine.

3d desktop does not work with efika,
it crashes after a few seconds (hopefully fixed in near future,
    because of pci gfx?).

I tested q1 mos client, it works great in 1280x1024x24.
q2 does not run, simply says: error during initilization
    Any ideas?
This afternoon i will test Wipeout, should work
at all (where can i get the patched start tool for wipeout,
i remenber there was something on my peg 2)?

Anohter problem is, that only lha is bundled with mos2.0.
What is the best solution to handle the other archiv types
    (zip, tar.gz, ..)?

That Sound does not work is a shame, but there should also be an update in near future.

Likly, there seems to be a problem with pci cards, even on pegasos.

Not enough memory I guess. Do not launch Ambient on startup and it works fine.

unrar and bz2 are also included. You can double click the icons with Ambient.

    > That Sound does not work is a shame, but there should also be an update in near future.

It simply didn't get ready before release and moving release date was no option.

Can't see any difference with or without 3D in my boot parameters.

Both situations produce a random freeze after a while on my setup, with no apparent pattern.

I do have a usb hub connected, on which I have a wireless mouse (keyboard is directly connected to the efika). Could this have something to do with the problem? Can't imagine why.

The efika had been rock solid with OpenSUSE.

Strange is, that other 3D Applications work great with
PCI card. Only the Desktop crashes.

I have also 3-4 freezes without any reason (1 or 2 when I setup some things in prefs). Only hard reset help to boot again. Also when I stop screen blanker with ESC button, Ambient pop up trashed with last blanker screen. Only I can do is to grab one window and erase that garbage with him. (Like on Win/XP sometimes, moving around screen :-( )

Other than that, Mos working pretty good, looking very nice and I like it. :-D
