Yes, that's the way it is! I must say goodbye to Pegasos platform and to MorphOS too.

It's hard for me, but the bad situations, and slow progressive made me to take that decision.

I want to thanks everybody from MorphZone (especially Targhan for helping me for the Greek Forum in MorphZone), MorphOS-Team, and all the others.

I would like also to say good luck to you, to Genesi and to MorphOS.

I hope some day that everything will be much better for you, according to your preferred platform.

I also hope that MorphOS will be really powerful someday, I will be very glad if I hear this.

Thanks again to everyone and good luck!!

    Kind regards,

    Antonio (Phantom)

Notihing against you. just a general thing:I never rarely** understand why these fundamential decisions are taken. If you are not satisfied with the situation, why not keep your Peg and just use it less. Because *if* you like MOS I'd guess it is better to have a maschine that is capable of MOS than to not have a maschine capable of MOS.

Exactly. I havent used my Peg for a loooong time besides betatesting Beehive and tried some other apps. And I wont till I have a new version of MOS.. but I would never sell it. I have patience.

If morphos isn't satisfying anymore, why not try linux ?
Although linux_ppc is not that common as on 386, it's a nice way to use your peg....

... to be honest, I did't think that way, when I bought my Pegs .. but after waiting for years for MorphOS 1.5... watching a great OS slowly dying .. .. there's no reason for me to buy any more system ...because hardware is nothing without software...

To this one I agree... But are we sure that the only software we'd
need is a new OS release? Of course I'll be more than happy when it'll
happen, in the meantime I keep thinking that in order to use only
MorphOS at home I'd need some software not directly and strictly
related to the OS... However, since the second beta of Sputnik, I had
the chance to minimize the time spent on other OSes when at home.
YMMV, but if I were you I'd reconsider wheter all I need is an OS
release or some particular program, like Word, or... or even a game
like Half Life 2. In that case there's not much that MOS 2.0 can do
for you. On the other hand, if you are enjoying the experience right
now, like I do, you'll probably enjoy it more...

I don't see 2.0 as the kind of Holy Grail that part of the community
seems to be waiting for... somebody might be heading for a delusion -
but maybe it's just me being wrong.
Therefore I don't think anyone really leaves because 2.0 isn't out
yet. Probably the system doesn't fit their needs anymore (or never
did, and they just pretended it did), probably they are realizing that
with a community of 1000 people it's not easy to see Open Office
ported (either on 1.4 or on 2.0...).

Me? I just like and enjoy what I have now...

    Kind regards,
    Andrea

    @ kriz

    Well, maybe... ;-)

    @ Zylesea

Who said that I sold my Pegasos 2? I didn't mention that. My Pegasos 2 board is right at my home, ready to operate anytime :)

    @ Duff

I didn't upgraded or downgraded to any os? (Well, to say the truth I downgraded to Winnydows like everybody else, a long time ago :( )
And I don't like, or better I HATE WINDOWS, MACOS, even Linux a little bit. I born and rise with an AMIGA, so I am not thinking to use another OS never. ;-)

    @ Judas

I will never thought to use Pegasos as Linux. I bought Pegasos only for MorphOS (because is something like an AmigaOS) and only that. :)

    @ bolero2004

Kala, esy na pas na gamh8eis.... koller :P

P.S.: To say my truth, I am in the middle of nowhere unfortunately. Waiting for new AmigaOS 4.0 motherboard (Sam440 for example), or stuck with MorphOS and my Pegasos 2? :/

too bad you are selling your peg. I wouldn't sell mine unless I needed the space or cash.

the fact that MOS dosnt change/update rapidly is fine with me because I don't feel MOS has to compete with Windows or Linux. it's an Amiga based hobby system for me.

It's strange, but I like that MOS is kinda outdated. Anything new added to the system is just a bonus not essential :) "Progress" and updates are slow from the MOS team, but the unnessasary and useless updates in Windows and Linux are too much. I don't want MOS full of useless "new" OS technology

of course Henes, you always liked the " I'm happy with what i've got and STFU". Nothing wrong with that, but it needs quite a decent amount of wisdom to reach that. I'm still working on it myself.

In my opinion, the greatest thing about linux is its stability, OpenOffice, GIMP, and other great FREE software. Elements lacking in MOS. But I have to say what i most enjoy using is amigaos kinda OS. These are the good things of an open system, instead of a closed system as our.

MOS is very useful for everyday computing. If Sputnik reached a modern compatiblity and stability, we would be looking good. You can surf internet, read Email, play music - streaming, cd, mp3, ogg, etc, Play Video and DVDs , Paint, DTP, Music, etc.

And its not just about MOS - a Peg2 can run Linux quite well. And of course, don't forget you can run OSX Tiger! That is pretty cool as well.

That covers all the bases for your computing needs so KEEP IT!

    Good about linux:

If there's something you're not happy with .. eg. a bug or missing feature, you can get the source, try to fix it on your own or ask someone to fix it...
( That's why linux is that stable ..)

If the same conditions were true for MorphOs/OF, we wouldn't discuss about "shutdown with poweroff", we simply had it solved since 3 years.

The situation of Amiga and MorphOS has deeply changed my opinion concerning closed software in an OS.
