    I wanted to try the free Mos Power Up version on my A4000 with Cyberstorm PPC/060 & CV64/3D with 150MB Ram. I downloaded the latest MorphOS Free edition which has support for the CV64/3d. Initially I tried booting off the CD-Rom but following the instructions on the MorhOS site. I just got a dark grey screen with the computer hung up?

    I installed the files from the CD onto a low priority partition and re-booted manually selecting the correct partition in early start-up. However got the same blank screen. I read through the various posting on PowerUp installation problems but could not find the solution.

    Any suggestions gratefully received. Thanks

    Note: I am a MorphOS user on a Pegasos II but wanted to put try it out on my classic Amiga set-up.

    As it solved my problems. Remove the workbench.library out of
    boot/extmodules and try again.

    @Markus_Bieler

    doesn't sounds a good idea, if you ask me!

    5/0.MOS:C> version workbench.library full
    workbench.library 40.5 (24-May-1993)

    it uses the one in the kick ROM

    Are you using the fakerom?

    Edit- just noticed you have an A4000T with kick 40.70 (no worbench.library in ROM).

    What do you get doing a "version workbench.library"?

    OK a few questions about the PUP installation:-

    1. File system: I've read various threads about needing SFS file system for the MorphOS partition. (rather than FFS). It has been suggested that only SFS v 1.252 works although I can't seem to find this version. The most up to date one listed on Aminet is v 1.236 and I've read other posting saying this is the one to use? Confused??

    2. Kickstart rom setting. I've read various references to setting the location of kickstart file. Obviously on an A4000 kickstart is on a rom? Am I supposed to dowload this file or copy it from,say the " Amiga Forever" disk?

    3. Is there a "Idiot's guide" for setting up MOS PUP on a classic Amiga.

    Thanks

    1) Older SFS versions do work so I suggest not installing the newest 68k SFS until problem is solved. Original SFS versions from Hendrikx are ok, too (i.e. 1.84).

    Though MorphOS has PPC native SFS built-in so I dont know why newer 68k SFS interferes with it.

    I have now re-partitioned the harddrive with SFS and copied contents of the MOS PUP CD-ROM to the bootable partition. I edited the startup sequence as indicated in the documentation and set the reset level=5 for an A4000 with Cyberstorm PPC however I still get the grey screen of death on boot up. I've played around with all the setting and have run out of ideas.

    I read all the posts which relate to PUP installation problems and now totally confused about much of the conflicting advice. Going to bed now to rest my brain!

    Note: My A4000 with Cyberstorm PPC with CV 64/3D work fine under OS3.9.

    Have you disabled MapROM in the CSPPC Menu settings?

    Hi,
    - use a standard FFS volume.
    - extract your KickstartRom (look on E-UAE/WinUAE to get the tool)
    - change settings (reset=5, kick..) and add the ramdebug to write to a file and post it on the net.
    - wait 1 min when your screen turn to grey
    Keep the Faith !

    @CLS2086 & @Framiga

    Thanks for your advice.

    I started with standard FFS and had already extracted a copy of my kickstart.rom. I will check out your other suggestions and report back.

    Oh ! Take care about the "execution" rights of the files, some burner's programms can turn them OFF !
