    Dear all,

I have tried to install MacOS X Tiger on my pegII using MOL, but the DVD is not recognized...

So I've tried to mount the DVD under linux, or open it in windows, and nobody recognizes the damned thing. As if the FS on the DVD was propietary or something....

    Any ideas?

Hello, installation of Tiger requires patched MOL... It can be downloaded from http://dev.gentoo.org/~josejx/ Please PM me, if you will need help...

I could access the Tiger DVD under PegXMac, and i could start the installation process. Unfortunately Tiger's installation tells that my HD partition is not in the first 8 mb of the drive which is wrong. Panther works fine though.

I heard of a german guy that was able to install Tiger with the last PegXMac but he never answered my mails.

I didn't notice any slowdown compared to 10.3.9... But MOL still lacks acceleration of graphics, so there is no support for openGL and of course many nice effects are not available...

Do I assume that this is a faulty DVD??? Because I can't mount it! And MOL (startmol -X --cdboot) says that there is NO bootable media.

    You are my hero :-o

Are you going to compile the OSX Tiger patches into the Gentoo live cd? Also, will you be using ALSA or OSS for sound? One more thing will USB work? Thanks in advance

No, the whole point of installing Tiger was getting OSX installled in my computer. But, for the DVD to be bootable, they must stick to UDF standards (and the DVD I have is definitively NOT udf).

    Hi!

MOLK will have cdrws, usb, alsa etc enabled.

    Only issue left is networking.
The nice guy hawe helped me a lot with trying to get network to work,
but it isn't completely ready yet...
A later update (hopefully with your help, as I'm lame with network-stuff)
will hopefully solve this last prob....

btw is it possible that latest gentoo-mol doesn't support Classic?

    Regarding freevo-live:

Yes, this is one of the 2 live-cds I mentioned above :)
I worked hard on it, but some setting will have to be set by you
manually (tv is set to pal/germany f.e)

    enabled are:

    - tv-in/out
    - tv-recording
    - movie-player
    - music-player
    - picture-viewer
    - several emulators like mame, mess....
    - hd-installer

    The 2nd cd is aros-live :)

I do my best to finish them till friday & send them to gunne (pegasos.org) via snailmail for upload...

    cheers
    frostwork

    EDIT:

    @magnetic:

Which gentoo-live cd are you talking about?
(molk is only a kernel,a mini-squash and a directory with
config-files) They need to be copied to the boot-partition
(has to be 1st partition on 1st hd in this release)

Hello: Talking about installing Tiger ... I would be delighted if I could just install Panther. I never could. The cd boots OK under MOL but I always get the message that the system can not be installed in the target disc. Can anyone tell me what's wrong?. I tried to install it in hdb4 (I have linux in the other partitions). By the way, Jaguar installed OK in that same disc. Thanks for you sure help.

Sorry, I forgot about the filesystem. At the moment it's HFS+ (OS 10.2 is installed in the partition)

    Hi!

1st of all sorry for using this thread to announce my stuff!
    (but at least it's partitcularly mol-related... )

    2nd thx for nice feedback
3rd the cds are on the way to gunne :)
    4th I started a "wink" kernel (=qemu-kernel) today &
it already works nice with several systems (including Knoppix-LiveDVD ;) )
With the mighty qemu "loadvm" option, it's possible to make the
pegasos the fastest win "booting" machine of the world ;)

    Hehe!

    cheers

Cant w8t for your new cds. I was referring to making sure you compile the Freevo Gentoo cd with the support for Altivec which is needed for proper usage in a DV setting imo.

What is the prob with networking? I've had MOL installed on my 2.6.x kernel with Debian from packages and use DHCP no problem...

@the user with Panther probs. . weird, Panther works great here and it should just install right over Jaguar..

    Hi!

    @SoundSquare

It's not my intension to make molk be concurrent to PegXMac
    (just in case s.o. wonders).
I don't have it, but I'm sure it's far more professional created than molk
    & surely worth its money...

    @magnetic:

I think everything on freevo-live is compiled with altivec-flags...
No idea if dv will work (at least from live-cd, but should/could be "enableable" (is this an english word? :) ) on installed system...

hawe helped a lot with networking, as i don't have one setup at home
atm the linux & other machines seem to be pingable from the Mac-side,
    but you can't get out...
The molk-squash is very mini, the kernel-inbuild initrd is the
    linux-system & the molk-squash is added as /usr/local/
(as of about 4MB-limit of the kernel).
Very likely s.th. is simply missing in there, but I've no clue what it could be...)

Alltogether there will probably come up several problems with
all 3 releases, but hey, I'm no magician & still learning &
with help everything can be updated ;)

    have a nice evening!
