    Hi folks,

    Anyone know why I can't read SD cards via USB card reader?

    Smart Media cards work OK and both work on my A1/OS4 but SD won't show
    up on MOS.

    Cheers,
    Robert.

    did you check poseidonprefs? What does it say?
    Is the SD bound to massstorage.class?

    I use SD cards quite often because they are used in my
    mp3-player. I use a HAMA 19in1 Cardreader for that.

    I bought a 1GB SD card a few days ago. It worked nice under linux but was not recognized under MOS. Everything is fine since i reformatted the card.

    @Ingo:

    Where are Poseidon prefs to be found?

    -EDIT-

    In the main system preferences, under USB, it says Welcome to
    Poseidon, then "Your MSD has a very bad firmware. HAVOC"

    I'm guessing it needs formatted? Can this be done from MOS?

    Thanks,
    Robert.

    Check your system for UMSD: (it's the default).
    If you find it, you can try to format the card.
    Otherwise you need to do it on some other device, i.e. i can also
    format my cards with my digicam and mp3-player.

    You can also try to use OS4 for it, of course.

    I had initial problems with my SD card on a 12in1 card reader too (another CF card worked without problems though).

    Make sure you have fat95 filesystem installed and then reformat the card using this FS. At least that did it for my SD card to work without problems.

    The main problem is that the SD adressing is changed in the 512 and higher capacity cards. So, the posseidon cant read the newer SDs. All the other cards works well (eg. i have a 2.2 GB CF compatible HDD) Be patient i think the new posseidon (if ever exist) support the new SD cards. Meanwhile you can read it under linux.

    @csabanw:

    I have various SD cards from 64MB to 1GB, and all are working fine. The key thing is, that the SD could be "partitioned" and some devices are creating not standard partitions on them, which causes problems on MOS (but also in Linux at me). The solution is to reformat the card in MOS. Believe me, if you format the Card using fat95 (the Format command from menu...), every device is going to read your card (I have tried linux, win, mac, MOS, printer, PalmOS, PocketPC, Digital Camera, telephone and mp3 player).

    Hi folks,

    Just managed to get D card to show up.

    Used the iBook to wipe it, stuck it back in the Peg and it worked.

    Thanks for the tips and help. :pint:
