Ave people!

I've just switched back to "Pegasos: Hifi 16 bit Stereo++" mode from "Unit 0: 16 bit Stereo++" - and I've noticed a lot of sound quality improving. So the question is, what is the problem? Does the Unit 0 give such a bad sound quality at others too? Or have I misconfigured something? :)

Can I listen multiple sounds at one time using this device (like 2 SongPlayers, 2 MPlayers, etc.)?

I have pegasos.audio 4.13 (28.10.04), ahi.device 5.54 (03/29/2005) and the Pegasos II's onboard AC97 sound chip.

If you get the driver working with multiple apps then chances are you have it installed just fine. I use it with the EMU10K driver for the Soundblaster Live cards. I do notice the sound is a low lower. I have to increase the volume to get the levels the same as before I started using it. I am not sure if its the version of AHI or the unit 0 part though. Its done it for the last two versions now as well.

I have same quality with Unit0 as with HiFi16 Bit Stereo++. And i can open mulitple Mplayers, ANR, Songplayer, and the play at same time without problems. And you should get AHI6.0 RC3

I've upgraded to AHI6.0 RC3 (ahi.device 6.2 (04/03/2005)). I've tried it, but there is the same effect. If I select the "Unit 0" on the first page of AHI prefs, the sound quality gets worse. There is a little "ambient noise" (I can hear it with SongPlayer at high volumes, but MPlayer is much worse: frequently I can't hear the movie's own sound from the noise. ). If I set "Pegasos: Hifi 16bit Stereo++" mode, then everything is fine, thre is no noise, but the system freezes, if I want to use AHI in two programs at the same time.

(If I set Volume Scaling in AHI prefs other than "Full volume", the sound is too low even at full volume on my amplifier.)

Thanks, but you don't understand me. My problem is, that it have choice: good sound quality and one program at the same time, or bad quality and more programs.

I just want to know, that in the second case does everyone hear the noise or is it only my fault?

into the "music unit" list, the "unit 0 hifi.." mode is a fake mode :
it use the settings from "unit 0" list (second item into the cycle
button)
check that your unit 0 settings have a good modeid and enough channels

* Added a new driver, device.audio, that plays sound using one of
AHI's units. And there was much rejoicing.

@jah:

Thanks for answering!

I've found the reason of the strange noise: The more channels I set in the Unit 0 settings, the lower will be the sound quality. So I've set it to 3, and now everything goes fine. Thanks again!
