Very good! Every Peg user should be crunching! There's only 130 in the stats list! Are there more than 130 MOS users out there? Come on! Crunch!!!

Wonder if the A1 crunches slower because of the ArticiaS?

The OS4 client should be AltiVec enabled, but it seems there are not much AMIGA G4 XE out there.

Too bad that there is no official way to get AltiVec support on Pegasos. Using the G4 for Dnetc without AltiVec is a waste of ressources.
I did a test some time ago and my iBook G4 800 was slightly faster* than my Athlon XP 2600 :-o

*Could be the other way around, but it was really not a big difference. A G4 1 GHz in -benchmark dnetc 72 should do around 10-11 Mkeys if using AltiVec.

You are right. With mos AV kernel you get around the 10 million keys/sec!!

Guys, Excuse my ignorance- I never understod this.
But what's the point of you cracking keys?

What good will it do to the community? Hehe.
And about competing.. It's just about how many participators there are yeah? Sounds stupid. Really.

    hmm..

There are inddeed more usefull projects on other Platforms (IMO). But why not take your idle processor time to let the world know that we are crunching more than HP Workstations. :-P

What keys are we crunching? I havent done it in a long time and need to start it over. I guess since my peg sits all day while I am at work it would be good to use it for something like this again.

RC5-72 - you can disable the OGR crunching to maximize the crunching you spend on RC5-72.

You can use the guide HERE.

The world will thank you. And no way are we gonna let the A1 team catch us even with Altivec!

Well, I'm more amazed that we're crunching more blocks daily than PowerPC/Linux (I assume that larger percentage of PowerPC/Linux users use Altivec accelerated dnetc client than on MorphOS, which makes it even more amazing)

When looking at the stats we should be aware that bplan GmbH is doing more than half of the daily workunits...do they have dedicated pegasos for this, or are they doing burn in tests with new boards???

If bplan is crunching all those keys - i'd assume it may be some sort of cluster formation of peg.

ATM i'm crunching for the PowerPC/Morphos team... how to join the "pegasos team"?

ps.. notice our stats jumped after the leaked Alitvec kernel ???

with the MOS 1.5 leaked kernel you can crunch 10,8 milions Keys/sec. Tested.

    @Robin
1.5 kernel is not totally unusable. I am useing it in this moment for example. But without the other components (not leaked) you can't use some stuff..

I only hope the 'new' MOS Team decides to release a complete update soon. Ambient 1.41 is out. MOS1.5. kernel is out. new mui is almost out. Tprint fix is out, SDL libs are out togheter with a lot of other stuff. I hope they organize soon a new so awaited upgrade/package.

My wild guess is they test the server/thin client machines as seen on the Freescale webpage.

Can you give any further details on this?

Do you believe that users/coders outside of the MorphOS core team could do this? It's interesting, albeit somehow sad, unless the core team agreed on it somehow. How's communication right now with them? Are they too busy in the embedded project they wanted to start? If desktop usage of MorphOS was left out of their target, perhaps they could allow for interested outside people to do it.

    "Attention!

It is a cluster of three boards with one G4 each working as a single unit and running MorphOS. The surprise is that the computational power is both enhanced by AltiVec and that the three boards are working together with three times the ability of one board. There is no degradation in the performance when they are configured as a cluster. It could be four boards or forty (or alot more).

Keep an eye on those stats...

    R&B"

(Edit: There are obviously more than three boards/CPU's there now! ;-))

Note that if you want to continue using Ambient with "MorphOS 1.5" you would be better of to downgrade to Ambient 1.4.0. But chances are that the next public release of the complete OS will come here in a form that is different than the "MorphOS 1.5" that has been showed on shows etc during the last year, so it may be that not even Ambient 1.4.0 will work properly at that time.

The MOS1.5 kernel is *not* out AFAIK. There is obviously a difference between an unofficially leaked version that is still in development, and a version that has been freezed at a certain level to be included together with other freezed components in a complete OS release for end-users.

I hope they take the time needed to put together a real release, and not a mish-mash of half-finished components like some of the ones you are referring to (Ambient 1.4.1 for instance). In the mean time I would of course not mind to continue having these small releases of new or updated components! ;-)
