The Pegasos ODW will soon be available pre-configured with Gentoo. Its price will also drop to $999 USD, of which $100 USD will be a donation to the Gentoo Foundation!

    :-o

Read all about it in the latest issue of the Gentoo weekly newsletter:

You can download one yourself, it's free. The Gentoo handbook also has good installation instructions for the Pegasos, I believe dholm is largely to thank for that.

@Bill/discreetfx - antime is right. There will be a bootable 2005.0 Gentoo CD and it will be ready soon. They will actually have a Game CD too!

Hey- what's the current state about that mentioned 7447A cpu card on the freescale page?

/me complaining since a long time for a 7447A passively cooled cpu card.

Gentoo has officially supported the Pegasos since 2004.1, and unofficially since 1.4 (by fetching a modified kernel from my dev page).
You can get the latest iso from one of these mirrors. And the installation handbook is located here.

I ordered a G4 card for my Pegasos II the last week, because mine is broken...
I received it yesterday, less one week. Nothing more to say. It cost 88 euros with ports, it's fast and my Pegasos works fine now.

Hope you'll have the same chance.

Does anyone know what it is?
    A4000/060/PPC-200MHz, A4000T/060/PPC-233MHz, CD32, MicroA1, Pegasos 2 G4, AMD Phenom Quad Core 2.5GHz, MacMini 1.5GHz/64MB VRam...mwwmwahhh :)

    The 7447 1GHz @ $249 is the only product listed on pegasosppc.com:

    https://www.pegasosppc.com/store.php?category=4

I assume this is where 'Buy Direct' takes the information from but I'm not registering on the Freescale site just to find out.

I'd hoped that the $149 price represented Freescale buying power/CPU discounts but now it seems it may have been either a typo or maybe only if you buy qty 1,000 :-/

Both the 7447 and 7447A cards seems to be listed at a higher price now than some week ago (+$100 USD). The price for the 1GHz 7447 is still lower than it used to be though.

But it would indeed be interesting to see what differences there are between the 7447 and 7447A cards that warrants the +$50 USD bump in the price tag; be it clock frequency, heat or cooling solution or whatever. The vague product description and unknown specifications definitely prevent at least me from clicking on the "order" button at the Freescale site!
