ekko is dead....the others are at a crawl speed...net bsd will be the first completed posibly by the 2.0 release and if not most likly by the 2.1....i think freebsd is rather far off but i am not entirely sure on that one...

I would love to have a up to date build of BSD on the Pegasos. OS X is based off it you know and its real UNIX.

The Pegasos Developer Program being sponsored by Freescale includes Developers from Net and FreeBSD. OpenBSD has machines already and Matt Dillion and the DragonFlyBSD team will have them as soon as they say they are ready for the PowerPC port.

The big question is when will poudsmack have a Pegasos?! The PegasosPPC Store is starting to look so pretty you would think he would finally pull the trigger...;-)

    Countdown to poundsmack pegasosppc purchase...1000, 999, 998...

    R&B :-)

Poundsmack is right, EkkoBSD is dead. The author found he had no time for it.

The news is that on the horizon we do have a NetBSD port (as Bill said) and FreeBSD isn't as far off as you might think. It's not ready to be put on a production server yet (at least not on a Mac.. :) but it runs a pretty stable system if you can find a snapshot and have a compatible system.

    Now... 997.. 996.. 995.. :)

is anyone selling on an ebay that is here as i dont have 615$ as i am paying for my MCSA certification....wasnt the G4 a lot cheaper before? how much did it used to cost....and if one is cheaper on ebay please someone give me the link to the auction :-)

on another note its really coold to know freescale has so much interest in the platform that they are buying them and giving them to developers to make more software run on the pegs

what i am even more interested in is when is the "official" release of QNX RTOS for teh peg comming out

    @poundsmack

now those wings look like they are missing a frame or something... Now about that Pegasos, if you can't afford one, why not talk an instructor into buying one for your school? Any good MCSE should know how to integrate dissimular systems into a network, right?

i dont care about that avatar anymore i spent wayyyyyyyyyyyyyy to much time on it as it is....so it can live without its frame. as for the instructor, what "Microsoft" Certified Systems Engineer, would want anything to do with promoting anything that doesnt run windows :-P

A MCSE that doesn't want to lose his job because the boss buys something without regard for any network admin or programmer on staff says. If your instructor does not believe that, he has never even visited the real world.

Job descriptions will state you must be able to do A, B, and C. Six months after you go to work, your boss buys D. You will have to learn how to deal with "D," or be replaced.

I worked for a company before, which was a COBOL coding "shop." The president bought into a document processing system to replace the COBOL coding. The head of the programming dept (for the region) was 100% yes-man. The company spent over a million dollars for this "system" on a corporate wide level. This company is all but defunct now.

The above actually happened, and it represents a worst case scenario.

You are wasting your money. MCSA is for people who already have jobs; and at that point your workplace should pay for it. The thousands of dollars in books and exams is all lost when you fail the exam.

And no, the G4 has always cost 615$ - €499 and never changing since launch over a year ago.

QNX is commercial. It will be available to developers who want to license QNX - not as a free download for everyone.

Good advice about the MCSA. It is an oversaturated job market besides.

About web shop: It looks great. Are these products actually available NOW? (Including CPU modules)

About QNX: Did he finally get it working 100 per cent on PEg2?

I don't understand bbrv's response. Is OpenBSD back in the race?

In any case, this is encouraging news. I would love to give one of the BSDes a spin on my Pegasos.
