Hi BBRV and other genesi people,

My question is simple and I know it's maybe borring you, but I'll be
mad if this situation dont change.

What is the situation about Pegasos 1 to Pegasos 2 Upgrades in France
    with APS?

Some boards were produced this summer and some people will get theyr
boards, but US? What about our situation?

I mailed you in Jully but dont received answer. This is why I'm asking
    you another time her.

Thank you for your time and please told us something constructive. If
you want do yourself the upgrade and not through APS, tell it to me,
I'll demand my check to APS and send another "or credit card
payement" to you with my old PEG1.

    regards

    Serge

Serge, the answer is still the same. We never authorized Resellers to collect any money. If you paid APS that is between you and Adam. In the meanwhile, when we are ready to start the upgrade program again we will.

Dude, you had your answer last time....or maybe even the first tiome you asked. No re-sellers were authorized to take your money. If you paid money to anyone...ASK FOR IT BACK PRONTO!

    @ JDK

MY PROBLEM IS NOT THE MONEY !

I just want a PEGASOS II, and from my pegasos I (Betatester I) I must
    can do an UPGRADE.
If I'm in this situation, is because I bought my "Betatester I"
directly from Thendic in Paris, so I choosed to upgrade my card with
Thendic "Thierry Velasco said me he call me when cards arrive", but
Thendic never had cards to Upgrade, so I passed my time waitting
waitting until no more PEG II boards were avalaible. When Genesi
France "Thendic" closed I decided to do my Upgrade with APS wich is a
very good an honest reseilor. Today APS can send me my check back and
that's all. But this is not a solution if I dont have my PEG II. It's
a very complicated situation and my english is so bad. I wish I was
    clear
    ;-)

    Kronos great song!!!

I say if you want a
Peg II then order one. I did it, I love it. Then again why cant you just get you money back and wait. Nothing on the Peg II works over then stuff on the Peg I. All the new ports are still non working on my Peg II. 1.5 is not in sight and for all i know will be a year or more away. You can bid on the one being sold on ebay now. So many options. I hear the Peg I works great with MOS 1.4.2 and think you should just wait and get your money back myself.

Some people have been (and are *still*) waiting for months to be able to *purchase* their upgrade.

And... Meanwhile, developers have received *free* Pegasos 2 boards, and recently (yesterday to be precise), you announced that ODW would be offered to selected developers.

So: what do you mean by "when ready" ?

    Regards,
    Leo.

Nothing hurts a project more than developers not taking the time to let their community know what is going on.

Leo, exactly what we said -- "when we are ready." The ODWs being *awarded* to developers were paid for by Freescale. BTW, didn't you get your board under the phreeboard program? If so, you are not eligible for the upgrade anyway.

And, breed, disappointed about what? That we are trying to create a market for the hardware and the operating systems that run on it? Disappointed because we have stood behind our products and engineers through the Articia disaster? What is it that you find so troubling? Please be specific.

For the last time: Our offer to upgrade the Pegasos I to the Pegasos II is at our discretion. We will lose money on every exchange. We will make this happen when we are ready and when we want to. What makes the situation interesting is our ability to provide more developers the original systems. For example, itix just received a Pegasos in this way.

Finally, do you really think that since one of us *is* French that we would have anything against "frenchies." ;-)

    @bbrv:

I'm disappointed to see good french coders leaving (or wanting to)
Pegasos/Mos coz they think they will never have the upgrade.
Some people bougth Peg1 lately thinking they will get a
    Peg2 ASAP.

In fact i'm not in this case, i bougth a directly a Peg2.
But i know a lot of people waiting for upgrade. And
some will not be enough patient (maybe...).

    :(

    Regards, breed ;)

You people need to stop all of this, and stop it now! Genesi looses money on any of the upgrades they do. The systems being offered as ODW machines are not being given by Genesi! They are being given away by Freescale, also the PURCHASER of the machines. They can do what they want with these machines. You need to understand this. Genesi is working long and hard on getting the Pegasos name out and known. They are doing more then Amiga inc. ever did, much more then the current company holding to the A1 and AOS4 is doing. If you paid for a Pegasos 1, then at least you have one. Some people dont even have that much. Why not shop for a new board and sell your current one? I have seen two Pegasos 2 G3 machines on ebay in the last two months. NEW users got those the last selling as a COMPLETE system for just over $400. I'm sure you can get half that for your Pegasos I machine if you try. For those of you that want a machine now i say go to the various resellers and see what they have. GGS Data had a new shipment not to long ago.

In the end you need to stop being so damn greedy! The fact that Genesi even offers to do this in the first place is unheard of in any other company. When they can afford to make the offers they will just as BBRV has said.

    Hi...

    1. We too are sorry if good people are leaving, but a Pegasos I vs. a Pegasos II does not stop a good developer. There are plenty of Developers that still only have Betatesters or April 1/2 that are productive (and still appreciate they received their board(s) for free).

    2. We originally offered the upgrade when we though the April patches would solve all the Articias problems - so *only* the CPU card was being swapped. They did not completely -- especially for the G4. Nevertheless, instead of just swapping out the CPU card, we then decided to *still* honor the upgrade offer, which we did for many people and swapped the entire system. Unfortunately, a number of people, including Resellers, took advantage of this generous gesture to cheat Genesi. For example, they purchased complete units at upgrade prices and sold them at full price or they purchased the upgrade online, but never had a Pegasos I. When we understood this was happening we stopped the offer until we could regulate the situation better.

    3. In the meanwhile, we sold many systems to corporate customers and in fact could not satisfy this demand. We have nearly managed to organize our supply chain better, but this has taken time. We purchase components 13-16 weeks out -- before production. Can you see the dilemma? This can be especially problematic as some corporate customers pay only at 60 days after delivery.

We will make good on the upgrade offer when we are ready. Fortunately, there are many good developers working away on the platform and we hope this latest effort will further the opportunity for both developers and the users who benefit from their work.

What Vesalia did was very clever. They purchased complete G4 systems and then swapped out with Pegasos II G3 owners for the G4 CPU card only, got the G3 back and then sold the whole system to a new user. Good thinking!

    R&B :-)

As long as the G3 are marked as used...
So, do the CPU card and board have a serial number mismatch now or did they swap the stickers, too? :-o

    @ Tarbos,

Do you see G3 Pegasos computers listed for sale on Vesalia's site??
    NO... nuff Said.

    @ Poundsmack,

When Genesi is Ready to tell You who all of their customers have been
they will do it without offtopic posts from you me or anyone...
Remember all things come in good time...

    @ Worried French(men/women)

Overall this whole thread sucks. Genesi have gone overboard to offer
boards for free in the first place, then to swap peg1 to
peg1 / april....Yet people continue to whine on public forums about a Voluntary Swap
deal that has already been explained. Please stop bringing it Up... I
am tired of seeing BBRV explain themselves for the Umpteenth time.
They have better things to do with their Time... and If you are really
a developer that got a Free board... So do YOU.

BTW, anyone have a freeboard they are not using and feel like giving it away and I pay shipping? (its ok if its pre-april)
