How much memory in Peg2?

Waiting for my Peg II. Can't wait!

    In the mean time...

How much memory is enough for:

    Playing DVD and MP3's
    Playing 3d games (QII).
Multiple apps running concurrently (Browser, MP3, email, Organizer, native morphos as well as 68k.)

I was thinking about either going for .5 or 1 gig.

    Any comment are greatly appreciated!

I recently got my PegII and bought 1 gig, but apparently MorphOS does not support it yet.

After coming back to the shop and getting a new harddisk because it wrote something weird to stop mine from booting the system, I was told to remove .5 gig and wait for MorphOS to support 1 gig before putting it back in.

So I'm not going over .5 gig until I read it is supported.

I used for a while 1 GB here too, but they are absolutely useless with MOS. 256 are really enough, 512 better, but really not needed for MOS/AmigaOS software. Maybe instead more Ram can be usefull for Linux/MacOnLinux.
Moreover what you say has no sense, MorphOS supports how much Ram you'll install, the pobelm you encountered is probably an incompatible iussue between the Pegasos hardware and your Ram modules. Try other kind of Ram.

1gig? Thats windows-like amount! On MOS you can do all this on 128mb :)

256 ought to be enough for everyone! ;)

    2x 512MB = 1GB currently here and no probs.
I had 256MB in my Peg1 and it was quite sufficient for normal use. I would recommend a single 512MB DIMM if you can spend the additional 35EUR so you are on the safe side and still have one DIMM slot free for future expansion. MorphOS has no virtual memory currently and I ran into problems with the RAM disk since it can use/reserve up to twice as much memory as your data would need because of some mem puddle allocation boundary problems (especially pronounced with lha or zip extraction of many small files to ram:)

    Hello @all,

Is there a way to change CAS latency and other mem settings for PegII?

With Miami, Voyager, Kaya, Mame, MPlayer, and a text editor all running
concurrent, the system is only using about 95 megs...so I would say that
256 megs is a reasonable amount for most "normal" uses. :)

    128MB isn't enough.

You need more to run Metal Slug 3 :-)

I have 128 megs on my Peg1. It is usually enough but I do run out of
memory sometimes and I'll get more mem eventually.

1 Gig should really only be needed if you want to download iso files
    to ram: ;-)

Note that there is currently a problem in Linux for Peg2 if you have
more memory than 256MB. Hopefully this will be fixed soon. I haven't
heard of any problems with MorphOS (except some cases of incompatible
    ram, check
    https://morph.zone/modules/sections/index.php?op=listarticles&secid=7
    ).

Take a half gig it has the best price/product ratio.
More is definitely not needed currently.
I have 256M and ran out of memory exatly once (opened more than 20 pics within fxPaint) simultaneously.

I have 256 Megs on my Peg1 and never encountered any memory issues so far.

I have 512 meg all set and ready to go with my Peg II... I'll be using it once I get my replacement G4 module. *sigh*.
