There is also the benefit of being able to use APDF so that it can extract all the images (usually - though it depends on the format the images were saved in, though usually they are converted into PPM or PBM or JP(E)G during the process to make them a document as a PDF) and the text can also (usually) be extracted, if the PDF author has allowed such extraction/editing/saving, which I find very useful, though it has its limitations with newer versions (revisions) of the PDF format.
It is also nice to be able, sometimes, to compare how APDF displays/handles the PDF against VPDF.
VPDF can overcome some imposed editing/printing limitations (password enforced) that APDF cannot allow of the features that are subject to the imposed restrictions.
VPDF can only save a page as an image, but it cannot extract images or text from a PDF document, which is a limitation I would like to see worked on so that this is then possible with VPDF.
