    Hello mates.
Bad year for my MorphOS machines.
I was using MorphOS playing with fantastic ACE emulator and suddenly system freeze.
Well, tried to reboot with power Burton and stuck in gray screen.
Turn off and wait a fee seconds and the same.

Try to boot macos and stuck in Apple logo.

Try to boot MorphOS from USB and stuck in gray screen.

    The same from MorphOS CD.

I can access open firmware but any attempt to boot a system fails.

I reseat ram, change gfx card, reset pram (and everything can be reset) with no success.
Dont know what else to do.
    Any idea?

    Thanks!

Sounds similar to the final failed reboot with my iMac when the SSD was kinda failing.

Swapped SSD with the one from a MiniITX PC I use for Linux and BOTH systems work without problems.

Something something TRIM I'd guess, which you might get fixed by either putting the SSD into a PC or installing Linux (since OSX10.5 won't help) to defraggle the drive.

On the PowerMac_G5 I still use an ancient Seagate hybrid drive which just as good as a full SSD for something as small as MorphOS while doing all the magic on it's own.

If you can enter Open Firmware Console, hardware-check is done and G5 is OK.
Just remove all drives (SATA) and any external equipement (USB-devices) and try to boot from MorphOSCD.
If this works, one of your removed devices influences boot-behaviour.
Then try to find out, which device is fault.

Sorry for answer so late...busy times.
Thanks for the help but no success ata the time.

There no blink in the power button.
I have disconnected every thing but CD/DVD player but when MorphOS or macos CD starts It freeze.

I can start Apple software diagnostic CD (in OF mode not in OS mode, whatever it means) and passed all tests.

In verbose mode It stuck when show "DART enabled"

So my last option is to try Kronos suggestion cos I run out of ideas.

Fastest test would be to replace the SSD with any random old SATA drive and try to install MorphOS (or OSX) onto it.

If all devices are disconnected and G5 won't run from DVD-Drive, what influence should a change of SSD have?

    Diag-CD has 2 modes: OF and OSX-mode.
If system passes OF mode, then there are no hardware issue detected. This normaly means your hardware is OK!! But this is also known bei booting into a working OF-console - which works too (in your case).

2nd test is OSX-mode: This will be interessting, if this works or not. In this case drivers for all devices are overtaken by OSX (OF-drivers are not longer active) and some functionalities are enabled, witch OF does'nt. If this is working, then your issue is very strange.....

One thing witch OF does'nt test during boot, are different resolutions of your graphics-card - but OSX and MorphOS does! Maybe there is an issue......

Maybe.....OF does'nt use much RAM and does only a rudimentary RAM-test at start-up.
A break after the Apple-logo, points in most cases to a not established kernel (this is done be bootx (bootloader) in /coreservices). OSX core or Quark-core (MorphOS) needs much more RAM!
In some (very) rare cases the CPU No.1 itself causes such or a similar behaviour. Can be tested by changeing CPU position on motherbord (needs also new thermal calibration then).

Damage of motherbords are very rare - most of issues are caused by mounted devices as RAM, CPU-towers, PCI/AGP-cards, or masstore-devices and last, but not least, power supply or faulty PRAM-battery.

Hello! Almost finish Santa Claus day and Hope to have some time to try to fix the problem.
What I have done is try with another gfx card but with no luck.
Dont know if this is a RAM problem.

I have another motherboard from a 2.5 GHz powermac (mine is 2 GHz) and dont know if I could use that with current cpus.

Yes, is possible! But needs thermal calibration.
