    Hi

It's been more than 11 years since I last booted up my Efika Open Client but I found it this evening and want to see if it still runs.

First issue however is I can't remember what the power supply looked like never mind the specs.

I've probably still got it but if anybody could provide the specs I would be really grateful as I don't want to fry it. Then I might just order a new one.

I seem to remember that I actually used to manage to power it off a USB hub at times, but that might be my memory playing tricks.

    Thanks in advance

Well, the Efika power connector is a standard ATX one so you can plug in any standard PC PSU that you like. Of course it will be an overkill (both size and current wise), so most Efika owners used a PicoPSU instead. PicoPSU requires an external brick adapter that can supply it with 12V (I vaguely remember that I had a 90W version of PicoPSU with 12V 5A external brick).

If you need to refresh your memory about Efika - there's the Efika Book available on morphos-storage.

    Thanks for the reply.

As I don’t have a 12v power brick lying around I’ll have to go into the attic later and see if I can find the original power brick.

Just to update, I'm glad to say I found the powerbrick and got it up and running again.

Was good to be back on it to be honest.

Currently its running 2.3 so I need to work towards getting it on to 3.12.

Only issue at the moment is that all of my USB keyboards are back at the office and with lockdown I've haven't been their since March! So I've ordered a new little one to turn up tomorrow.

I just went through the same process with my Efika. Again, it about 10 years since I powered it up and could not find the original external power brick. After a long serach I found the brick, replaced the coin cell battery and it's up and running again. Now to take a few photos of it running the first release of MorphOS 2 for the book.

Happy New Year and good riddance to 2020!
