You know, I've never had a total failure with MorphOS (now I've said it/tempted providence !! DOOM pending - not the game -

)
I've had a few times when I've booted and the block size was out of alignment with the HDD itself, but SFS repaired it all by itself, and I carried on, and that's only happened a handful of times in 8 years or so.
I always use a MorphOSBoot CD-RW to install a new version, as I only have PowerBooks, MacMini and PowerMac G5s, and then I can re-use the CD-RW over-and-over-again when a newer release is available. I do use CF and SD and other digital media, and I do find what you find to be a nuisance, and trouble with digital media to be borne out with what I have encountered, which rarely happens on Windows, I'm glad, but sorry - with regard to MorphOS, to have to say.
