Actually, there is now away to control certain parts of the fan control software on PowerMac7 machines. However, due to an oversight on my part, the tool to do so never made it to the ISO.

I'll make sure it gets included in MorphOS 3.13, in the meanwhile you can download it here:

    https://bigfoot.morphos-team.net/test/PowerMac7FanControl

It's a command line tool using the standard ReadArgs() interface, so if you run PowerMac7FanControl ?, you'll get a list of possible arguments that you can give it that are hopefully more or less self-explanatory.

    Hi !
Does this work on imacg5 too ?
I just registered my imac, everything is working, except the fan control, so the machine can goes up to 100 °c.
I know it is not supported yet ;)
Except that, it is a great machine for Morphos !
I could do betatests if needed.

Does FanControl set permanent changes? Or is it needed at every boot?

    btw: reduced G5-2.3GHz CPU-Temp from 76°C to 69°C without more noice.....very fine!

EDit: Seems not to be permanent.

In my case I want max CPU-Temp of 70°C:

    > CPUFanControl CPUTemperatureTarget 70

    > CPUFanControl ? gives you all comands.

Ok thanks for the info. I hoped it could work on Imac too because on open firmware it is named powermac...
Anyone has the Imac version for tests ?

    Thanks !

The key is in the number. Your iMac is PowerMac12.
