That's a good start Doraemon. I would like to know if the IDE issues are isolated to MorphOS, or if they are problematic with any OS on the Pegasos right now?

Unfortunately, it seems that Linux is affected as well. Their are ways to program around it though in MOS we just need time! :P

Thanks Magnetic. The questions now are, 1. what can users do to work-around the problem, and 2. how long before there are real fixes available?

    Here is my experience :

Well, the first time, I have blocked the pegII with setenv (before I received the email about it) so I debugged it with a serial cable with the informations and it worked ! pfiou...

The only problem for me is that I have to reboot to boot on my hd unless it is not recognise (the first time), it worked well on the peg1 so I think pegII is too fast in boot...

I use a 256 Mo ddram 2700 with infineon Chips. I never heard someone who as problem with memory even with 3200. Good point !

I have just changed my boot.img to have it work. One problem : the time is not good when you reboot. You just have to had c:setclock load before Iprefs in the startup-sequence.
Another problem was with poseidon 2.2, the command poseidonupdate didn't work the first time I had to protect it with s (srwed) unless it doesn't work but I think it is the same on pegasos I...

Another point is the fan wich make noise, but it seems that the G4 needs it (my tower case is hotter than before).

I had no problem with ide for this time...
And the pegII flight with our applications... Everything starts immediatly ! I think the ddram make a big difference. FTP is more fast too.
And surfing with ibrowse is really nice ! ;)
Linux is not running yet but it seems to work in sven luther's home I will be interesting in running mol in it !
So in conclusion, we need some fixes and mos 1.5 but the ddram and the G4 make the difference ! perhaps twice of the speed of the peg1 with g3.

    Bye

    How about this:
Files needed to upgrade MOS 1.4 to 1.4 from Peg1 to Peg2.

Okay, I know about boot.img, but what files are needed to take advantage of the new Radeon drivers. ;) I figure I can figure it out, but having it in an FAQ would be nice.

Does the Poseidon upgrade work on a Peg2?

-Most important thing might be Read the MANUAL carefully, then ( for non German readers) Read the German parts which are more in depth than the English section. Hopefully this will change soon.

-Also some older PS/2 Keyboards will not work, I have tried 2 sofar, my oldest, yet nicest refused to work. If your computer refuses to reach the "ok" on the open firmware, Check Your keyboard... this one thing caused nearly 4 hours of dispair for me.

-sfs may destroy your partition if rebooted during certain meditations :-x

-I have used Maxtor 80gig 133 ultra with no problems as well as a Western Digital ultra 100. Both are tremendously responsive.

-I currently use 256 meg ofddr 400 Ram, from a company that I have never heard of so I will call it generic.

-last I was able to boot off of a Samsung DVD drive with no problems

Yes, I know. That was my suggestion for a Peg2 FAQ.

It would be nice to read the German parts, but not all of us can speak German. A full translation would be wonderul. Even if I have to download it in pdf format.
