Do you know NoviaOS on AmigaOne X5000?

    What is it?

    A joke? A fake?

Was Hyperion forbiden to continu using AmigaOS4 and Workbench tradmarks?

Is it a linux running a virtual machine running a modified version on AmigaOS4?

    It is something about MorphOS?

    Its OS4, plain and simple.
A few name changes, but check out the revision for 'Warp".
Its exactly the same as the current version of Warp3D for OS4.1FE.

Conclusion, its a very slightly altered OS4.

Just a tempest in a teapot.

The screenshot shows 3 GiB of graphics RAM and 2 GiB of system RAM.

    Indeed.

And the answer to that question is perhaps what determines whether it’s a “tempest in a teapot” or not?
MorphOS is Amiga done right! :-)

    Marketing stunt?

Dunno and actually don't care too much.
The way more important question is. When's 3.10 out again?
Or will it be called NeuOS now?

Market stunt? No, more like another retarded piece of BS from the Amiga community (and yes, I know the word retarded is out of fashion and no longer politically correct).

As to the 'tempest in a teapot', would you prefer another term minimizing this nonsense?

Its OS4, with some childish modifications, nothing more.
Do I really cares why? Not particularly.

My guess is that it's a pre-loaded emulator+OS4 deal thingy.

We'll see after Amiwest, or maybe not. Such drama.

I am fine with 'tempest in teapot', too. At leat Amiga is always good for the daily soap oparea fix.

On the first official day of AmiWest 2017 (unless you count the developer oriented events), drama is to be expected.
BTW - David 'AmigaDave' Morris informed me early this morning that his kitchen is flooding (that he has a leak somewhere), so he might not make it to this year's show (or only attend one day).

Thought I would search for info or images of NoviaOS to see what this conversation was all about, so I entered NoviaOS+Amiga into my Google search box, and the link at the top of the page that came up took me to a post by someone trying to speak Spanish to their landlord. Here is the quote:

"I used the computer to tell my female landlord that I was going to visit my girlfriend and used the wrong word. The computer gave me novia. I am female. The landlord raised her eyebrow at the word "novia." Ignorantly I said yes, novia. I had never heard of using the word novia, but did not realize that it meant homosexual friend."

Not knowing more than a few Spanish words myself, I am unfamiliar with the word Novia.

    @amigadave

    Discussion starts here (post #1029):

    AW.net

It’s from Trevor Dickinsons (of AeonKit) blog, where he posted a picture of it in a cryptic context.

So it’s Trevor who is the source, unlike what Jim tries to picture here...

I'm not trying to depict anything, the revision numbers of the modules listed is the same as the current release of OS4.1.
Its hardly cryptic. And if its a display from an X5000 or an emulator, quite thinly disguised, again, who cares?

    It IS silly.

Trevor Dickinson, an AeonKit official, posts a picture with 3+1 OS’s under the contextual headline “Just your usual Linux desktops?”, of which the fourth picture is the obvious focus, the entire point of the statement (and *it is* a statement, whatever it means), is NoviaOS IV.

You recognize one familiar version number in that picture, and at the same time completely miss or ignore that every single name that can normally be traced to a trademark or product has been replaced.

    Not cryptic? Really?

No, not particularly, its an X5000 or an emulator, as has already been posted.
    So...f'ing...what?

Or have you suddenly become enamored with emulation under Linux?

Again, I could not care less.

"A sheep in sheep's clothing", best summary so far.
    A great big yawn.

AnEON and HypaHypa sure love carrot-dangling (remember "MAP" ?).

So this could be everything from a mistimed april's fool to them cutting of the cord with the trademark owners.

Both those explanations would deserve a raised eyebrow. Particulary the first, since a confirmation of HypEon having lost grasp of time would explain so many things...

Actually, reviewing that part labeling NoviaOS, that IS just OS4, on an X5000, with a Radeon 7900 video card.
If its running under Linux, does it really matter?

The other three windows are obviously Linux distros.

Again a 'tempest in a teapot'.

Anyway, they managed to get us to discuss it, so their objective was met.
