    Today I got hands in a PowerBook5,8
It is really well kept, not a scratch not even on the bottom. There is a slight shadow the size of a fingertip on the screen but that's all ... However, the battery must of course be changed. That come with the original charger in good condition also and a fine Neoprene Sleeve.
I want to upgrade the memory to 2 GB, but where do I find RAM blocks that work with this model ...

You need PC2-4200 533MHz 200 pin DDR2 SODIMMs for an A1138 (PowerBook 5,8), which you can usually buy online reasonably priced.

I should probably have clarified my question a little more ... I know what RAM to put in. But I have previously bought ram to my PowerBook5,2 and it is very critical with the ram coming in. Actually, I can not find any memory that it will accept. I do not want the same problem with my 5.8. Therefore, I hope someone can tell what the Ram has successfully's putting in a PowerBook5,8 thanks

Do you mean a specific manufacturer's brand name, i.e. Micron, Kingston, etc.? :-?

I have a few A1138s, about 6 in total, and whatever make of RAM I have fitted has worked OK. I did have one stick of RAM fail, but that was replaced by the supplier with another stick of the same manufacturer and it works OK now.

I have a few spare sticks, and the names on the chips themselves, in the main, are Hynix, and some are sourced as supplied/labelled from there, and I have a Micron labelled stick of RAM, but I'm sure I have other sticks/chips by other manufacturers and suppliers, so this is not in any way a definitive list of RAM that is compatible with an A1138. 8-)

I think any reputable online supplier will swap any defective RAM they might have supplied for a working stick of RAM. At least that is what my supplier did when the one stick they sent me failed soon after I'd fitted it. ;-)
