    Postal has become open source since a week ago, according to major media. How feasible is to port the game on MorphOS? Would love to play the game since I haven't ever touch it on a PC.

    That would be cool! :-) I have never seen Postal "1" so a port would be greatly appreciated! :-)

    But I absolutely loved Postal 2 (played it through several times). The humor! :lol:

    (Postal 3 completely sucked, big time!)

    I'd say very feasible, considering there's an OS4 port already.

    I do have a semi-working postal port from a polish friend on morphos irc channel. It works but with a specific Postal anniversary edition released in eastern Europe and many keys from the keyboard doesn't work which makes it very difficult to be played. Author informed me that it looks like a problem from MorphOS SDL2 version and couldn't do anything else to fix them. Hope Itix one day takes care of them and improves our SDL 2.

    I have it working but with some issues of course: What it means that all is rendered in a blue tonality?

    Edit: Nevermind - Changed SDL_CreateTexture to another SDL_PIXELFORMAT

    Few things you say. If there's no output, it is a matter of seeing what Snoopium finds. Half of the problems are not a proper POSTAL.INI configuration (sound freq, for example): I left my own there because the original most likely doesn't work. I have SDL2_0_12 lib in my system.

    Also GoG files are taken from linux: Don't know if they can be used directly without install.

    Obviously it must be Postal.INI since the error clearly states:

    "An error occurred while reading from POSTAL.INI.
    See code A101 in Postal Help for more information"

    Hope it gets fixed. I am also using sources from Windows GOG version.

    What loosely says is "not found files".

    First of all POSTAL.INI needs this inside:

    Code:
    [Realms]
    File = res/levels/postal_plus_realms.ini

    If "postal_plus_realms.ini" is another thing, then up to you to change it. But GoG files has that on res/levels

    and then if there are errors about sound data files.

    Code:
    [Audio]
    DeviceRate = 22050
    PainFrequency = 5
    AudioLanguage = 0

    But I did it already with the provided .INI in the uploaded pack.

    Remember: The first time game is run, a "./PostalPlus" dir is created and the POSTAL.INI file is copied there: It must be a POSTAL.INI before game is started from scratch.

    Those are the same kind of problems I had with a Debian version done with the same sources till I figured out.

    have the same issue, have download postal from gog, then installed on windows, copy the dirs res & title to usb stick. Have extract portal1.lha, put the two dirs inside and klick on postal1-mos. A screen is open and close put out the message: An error occured while reading from "Postal.INI" See Code A101????

    Additional Information, a Dir is created without Name and in the dir is an empty folder named PostalPlus

    Lord76 :

    What is on dir res/levels ? Should be "postal_plus_realms.ini" file.

    If there's a different ".ini", rename it.

    The empty folder with dir PostalPlus is correct: Also "gamesave" dir is created later.

    not working for me:
    In the postal1.lha > POSTAL.INI is a Line: File = res/levels/postal_plus_realms.ini
    In res/levels/ is a file called: postal plus realms.ini without "_" in the name

    First Test i click on postal1-mos Error Code Shows

    Second Test: i renamed File in POSTSL.INI to. "res/levels/postal plus realms.ini"
    Error code shows again

    Third Test:
    I renamed File in res/levels/ from postal plus realms.ini to postal_plus_realms.ini
    Error code shows again

    What is wrong with that?

    Let's try this:

    -Remove postal.ini.

    -Create a new postal.ini with only that inside:

    Code:
    [Realms]
    File = res/levels/postal_plus_realms.ini

    [Audio]
    DeviceRate = 22050
    PainFrequency = 5
    AudioLanguage = 0

    Be sure that in res/levels/ there is "postal_plus_realms.ini"

    Important: If there's a postal.ini inside ./PostalPlus/ , delete it.

    And what says Snoopium ?

    Means that something still not set properly but almost ready.

    If in my .ini I remove the [realms] part or change the file name, that happens too: Comming back to menu.

    I don't know how the rest of the files or scripts could be different from the linux GOG version or a particular hardware system but....

    ... my suggestion is take my original postal.ini and compare to the one that's created inside
    ./PostalPlus/ Now has more parameters to deal and set by default. Could be one that fails.

    But again important now the changes to try are those on ./PostalPlus/postal.ini: The original ouside this dir now is not read.

    Basically all needed should be done "first" with a clean postal.ini and the new one should not be touched (game sets parameters you do in menu, etc.)

    Yes, I know is a bitch to get it running.

    Offending command on provided Postal.ini is: GameFilmScale = 1.000000

    Delete the above and the game launches (providing you have renamed "res/levels/postal plus realms.ini" to "res/levels/postal_plus_realms.ini").
    Then, according to Snoopium, fails to load res/levels/single/easy/ehome.rlm (if Player has selected Easy Campaign) and reverts back to Main Menu, though path and file are in place.

    I have also tried to load the Demo and Postal quits while complaining that the file may be missing or corrupt or I don't have the priviliges (lol wrong OS I suppose :P) to open it (say on "res/demos/default1.dmo", though it's also in place) while postal-mos hits 100% cpu throttle and I have to break it on tasks.

    Hope the above helps. Perhaps still easiest way would be just to just share the resources and check them from your side too, or just rip them directly from a win/pc installation I suppose.

    I think the .ini I provided is the default that sources have with the audio part changed that failed on my system (and PC too).

    Using a PC .ini from old CD game or whatever place it didn't work with postal open source version, but anyways is a matter of parameters. I used whatever worked at that time.

    The demos have a path problem but they are really like 30 seconds of not much to see. Worked for linux but oddly enough the linux version I compiled is very unstable.
