Scribble Freezes!?

    Hello!

    I have on Mac Mini a fresh installation of MorphOs 3.8 and I installed MorphOS 3.5 SDK (20140508). Of course I do have a registered version of the OS.

    It happens that I get stuck every time I open the Scriblle text editor to edit a file ( i.e. little c source file ) because the Scribble freezes and the Mac Mini too.

    I was thinking about installing some older version of the OS and of the SDK to figure out if it works.

    Do you have any idea of why the Scribble is freezing on my machine?

    It is hard to know what is going on but it definitely should work on 3.8 (I use that myself of course). You could try to delete the Scribble settings from env:mui/ just in case...


    But I really need a logfile to see what goes on.

    Either with the Logtool application (which comes with the SDK as far as I remember) or the corresponding screenbar plugin. ramdebug option should be ok to capture a log in your case

    Probably it's the annoying Scribble font bug...
    just delete ENVARC:sys/font.conf and reboot.

    Hello Pollucks,

    I have deleted ENVARC:sys/font.conf ,rebooted and now Scribble seems to work but I have lost my Prefs settings...

    I know, use a max. font size of 16.

    Unfortunately I have never been able to reproduce this problem so it is hard to nail it down. However, it is unlikely to be a Scribble issue per se, but more likely some layout issue in MUI or so.

    The next time someone experiences this problem, perhaps it might be helpful if they could share their prefs file.

    I experience also scribble freezing, but seems that I could reproduce it:
    If I open the templates list and insert a template and then close the list, MOS freezes down. If I edit the file before closing the list, it work well further.

    Wasn't played too much with this... maybe the template is bad somehow. (I created the lots of templates)

    I haven't such problem.
    I can load templates, close the list many many times.
