    Has anyone sucessfully configured Simple Mail to work with a Gmail account under IMAP?
    If yes, what's the correct options on the Simple Mail account screen?
    I 've followed the Gmail configuration walkthrough but I cannot establish a connection with the server (and Simple Mail doesn't provide any other info).

    @Andreas

    Thanks for the hint, I 've updated to the latest version (1.1), still no luck though

    @DanicaTalos

    Can you please write down your account settings briefly?

    I 've enabled imap on the gmail preferences then went on SimpleMail->Settings->Configuration->Accounts->Add accounts

    Main preferences I have checked are:

    IMAP4, Server: imap.gmail.com, Port 993, Secure, Active and Avoid Duplicates are ON.
    On SMTP I have smtp.gmail.com, Secure, Port 465.

    However, I get a "Login failed, check Username and Password for this account" :(

    I've tried even with ASK option enabled to write down my username/password but for some reason it keeps failing..

    EDIT: Seems now it created a 2nd imap folder with the extension imap.gmail.com-0. Checked the username name under ASK option and it shows the following unreadable information: "+Yë"™»„ªOސÆцq#žK‘Gp»À’`ìàÔçmÆÓígƒwRÕòåw§6²ãT¾Ù»
    ›ïaôƙ3™õ¯"

    Can SimpleMail accept also numbers as username? Mine is Stefkaro83 at GM etc.. perhaps that is causing some problem?

    Importent: In the Settings, you must write:

    NOT:

    Username: yourname
    Password: yourpassword

    correct:

    Username: yourname@gmail.com (yourname@googlemail.com)
    Password: yourpassword

    Ok, I managed to get it working :)

    Seemed that Gmail was blocking access to SimpleMail (got a notification mail from Google for illegal access to my account).

    For whoever faces the same problem in the future, after you have enabled imap on the gmail settings head on HERE and enable acceess fom less secure applications. OWB didn't do the trick and I had to resort on Mozilla/PC to enable that option. After you have successfully enabled it you will receive a confirmation mail from Google. Now go to SimpleMail account settings and fill in the blanks.

    Also, wasn't suppposed that SimpleMail 1.1 would display HTML and unicode (i.e. Greek letters)? Because both of them don't seem to work. HTML mails display just a url link (i.e. from Nike.com) and when I receive a mail to Greek I only get "____" (without the quotation marks).
