    Hi there!

i've installed Samba according to this guide:

    http://sambaforamigaos.wordpress.com/

I did all the changes to the config files correctly, but somehow only nmbd will be started after a minute when booted up. smbd won't start no matter how long i wait.

I also checked protection bits of smbd. all paths are complete and ok. Anybody an idea or tips?

Samba (at least on linux) does not run as a service in the background.
It is plugged into inetd and is run as needed (when someone tries to connect to the samba port number on your machine).

I am not aware of how it is setup on MOS.
I downloaded the MOS version of samba and ran the installer.

During the days of Amiga OS 3.1 you had to set it up the same way (to run as needed) using Miami.

I installed it with smbfs and I can mount things.
I don't know if smbfs comes with samba built in so I cannot say for sure Samba works.
I'd have to set it up to share my amiga folders to my linux laptop to be for sure.
