I recently wrote an article about using alternative operative systems, especially MorphOS/Linux to recycle older machines and make them usable again.

As a programmer I was looking for a way to use older machines to do modern development. Object Pascal (FPC compiler) is a good solution, since it compiles to just about any platform as long as you avoid local API calls and stick to the RTL.

A second option, and the question I have to you -- is what about nodeJS?

I guess you have Apache as the server for MorphOS? Will NodeJS compile and install as expected on PPC hardware?

There is a porting project for V8+node.js on PPC (Linux and AIX for now):

"I’m happy to report that as of the 4.3 release of V8, which is the current stable release, V8 can be fully compiled and built for PPC directly from the Google repos and is tested as part of the Google beta and stable builds"
