    hi all
miami and miamidx are causing me too much pain, so i tried to swith to genesis from the os3.9 cd.
i copied the resource library, installed genesis, ran the wizard. after starting genesis by clicking its icon and pushing the via_rhine device to Online, the whole system freezes without an error message.
i am sure i heard people talking about having genesis up and running. how did you do this magic?!!
(ps i have a router attached to my DSL modem)

    thanks

Did you switch to the MUI gui from the aminet version of Genesis?

    Hi all

I am new to this MOS world, and I have only the Genesis demo from aminet (I do not have OS3.9).

When I install and try to run the Genesis Wizard on MOS1.4 (on my lovely new PegII), I get the error message:

    "Could not create MUI application"

Does this version not work without the OS3.9 version? Do I really have to buy OS3.9 just to get TCP/IP working until the "official" TCP/IP stack comes out? (I had no luck with Miami either - I am using a router & modem internet connection...)

If the demo can be made to work, could someone please tell me which files I need to add and where I can obtain them?

    Thanks!

I don't think it would be possible from the Miami demo to get online. It can be done with MiamiDx, but I do not know if there is a demo.

Genesis should work, but I've no idea how to configure it to work through a router.

    Sounds like a missing/wrong MUI-Class.
Run SnoopDos,and see what goes wrong.

    Yes, :-)

Just use the search option in Aminet.

Thanks for the tip - SnoopDOS will be very handy!

As for Genesis (I am also trying the MiamiDX demo from aminet by the way, sorry for not being specific before), it seems to be trying to find "Term.mcc" / "term.mcc.elf" - it looks in every possible directory it can think of!!! (It's presumably a library, terminal related or something?)

I'm going to try to track this down, but any help would be appreciated.

If you can't find Term.mcc, download AmTelnet from Vapor. I believe it comes with Term.mcc.

    Thanks :-)

Odd thing I have now found is that the file is actually within the archive... but the installer doesn't seem to use it.

Once the lha file is expanded, this file (and some others) are placed at:

    MUI/Libs/MUI

from where the archive is expanded. This sounds like a strange directory structure to me, but then I'm not familiar with the MOS, so it might be usual.

I haven't yet looked at the installer script, if I find anything, I'll let people know. It might simply be that I've had a dodgy download!!

    Hello leonifan,

The MUI: path structure isn't the same as OS3.9 in MOS1.4.
All MUI:-related stuff have to be copied in your SYS:Classes/MUI directory.

I also made a assign to it in my User-Startup, but I don't know anymore if this is neccesary.
    The assign is:

    Assign MUI: SYS:Classes/MUI

    Good luck,

    Spidey

Thanks Spidey, I will see how that works :-)

I have to say that everyone's been very friendly and helpful on this forum, especially since I am pretty much a complete newcomer to the Pegasos and MorphOS!

    Thanks all!
