    Hello Peg people!

I think it would be nice to have a DVD Drive compatiblity list for drives that will play commercial DVDs with MPlayer and MorphOS. It seems that the drive needs to have the linux Mplayer compatibility to work properly with the libdevcss. So, if you have a working DVD playing setup with Peg/MOS please post your results here!
Maybe Targhan will put it in the FAQ archives here for all the present and future users.

I agree with Magnetic on this one. The faster the better, as I intent to start seperating out all of the compatability lists to a set of "Pegasos-I" lists. I don't know how many things will change for Pegasos-II, but I would like to wrap up any PegI compatability lists this week!!

    Hi

Here are some smaller information we have found out so far.

    Samsung CDRW/DVD combo SM-352

Playing DVD with AMP in MorphOS works, Playing DVD with Mplayer in MorphOS works not, Playing DVD with MPlayer in Debian Linux works.

Reading DVD in MorphOS works. Reading CD in MorphOS works. Burning CD with Burnit in MorphOS works.

Also similar Samsung drives, which are CDRW, CD or DVD-only works in same way, but of course only with whats supported with the particular drive.

    Pioneer DVD 119

Works reading DVD and CD in MorphOS, works reading DVD and CD in Debian Linux, works playing DVD with Mplayer in Debian Linux, couldn't get it to play DVD with either Mplayer or AMP in MorphOS right now.

    Pioneer DVD 106S (slot-in)

Works reading DVD and CD in MorphOS. Works playing DVD with Mplayer in MorphOS, couldn't get it to play DVD with AMP right now. Works playing DVD with Mplayer in Debian Linux.

Have not tried more different possibilities as for now.
    Best wishes, Gunne

    Sony DRU510A

    Boot Morphos CD = OK

Burn CDR / CDRW = OK

    Burn DVD-R / DVD-RW / DVD-RAM = Untested

    Read DVD ROM = OK

Watch movie = it works, but I cannot recommend the experience. Sound crashes frequently. Can't play without innordinate amounts of frameskip...as to whether this is DVD fault or just mplayer...can't tell :-/

    I'm using an LG GDR8161B .

Seems to work with MPlayer, although there are one or two films that don't seem to work with it but I think it's the fault of them not being decrypted correctly.

    Thanks for Posting Guys!

Keep it up! This is an important list. It seems like the LG drives work well. I notice they specifically say that they have LInux support. I wonder if the LG GDR 8060B would work as well..

Can add another drive which doesn't work with the Pegasos at all.

    BenQ DW400A DVD+RW

Drive get locked when initialized in the firmware, so not possible to use at all with the Pegasos, computer boots up though.

I have the LG GDR8161B too.

It was cheap and I had never problems with any DVD until yet (encrypted, not encrypted). I tested around 20 different DVDs with it until now. Most DVDs are Region 2 (Germany, Japan) or Codefree (HK, China, Germany).

    regards,
