    Hi all,

With MOS1.3 Lame 68k was highly unstable on my system and Lame PPC refused to work alltogether.

While chatting in #morphos on IRC Zapek said he would make a new version that does not use PUP (as this is broken in 1.3). The new version works great on my system and encodes a standard length music file into mp3 in about one minute.

I have uploaded the executable to the Downloads section so please everyone help yourself, and a big thanks to Zapek.

Now all we need is a program that'll save the audio tracks to cd. I've tried using MakeCD a few times, but it seems pretty unstable when you're saving individual tracks to disk. (Sometimes it works 100% while other times it will randomly stop responding.)

Did you try the CDDA command alread or Secondspin which is using the CDDA command?
Dunno if this is working on Pegasos.

Tried cdda with ide-drives, did not work.
Only with scsi I got it to read the data.

    @madgun68:

You've propably encountered the ide lockup bug. This has nothing to do with makecd. It's a problem of the ide.device (I'll hope this will be fixed for 1.4!).

Try increasing the buffers on MakeCD. I was
having a few lockup problems but they disappeared
once I made the buffer around 50MB. Works quite
good now, although I am really looking forward to
    a new version of BurnIt.

I've bought a copy of MakeCD a few months ago and set the buffers at 4MB and everything works.

I use a small CLI-util (forgot the name of this util) with DirOpus4 to translate MP3-files to AIFF-files and these files I burn succesfully on a cd as audio-tracks.

And yes, I'm also waiting for the new BurnIt (because of DVD-support :-))

    @ tokai:

This is a bug in the ide.device?

Good to hear, because I tested some days with
MakeCD and the settings/tooltypes to find
out, why the drives are 'hanging' sometimes
(I garbaged 3 cdrs because of that).

The bug is know to the MOS-team? Are they working on it?
I hope it will be gone with MOS 1.4

    Regards

    @ Spidey:

MakeCD supports MP3s directly, if the mpega.lib
is installed (with MOS 1.3 it is).

So, click 'New' (for a new track), then below
'source' click as long as 'Image-file' appears and
then select the MP3-file. So You can burn MP3->CDDA
on the fly (mostly 12x speed with G3-600) or make
    an CD-Image first.

    Regards
