    One could hope, right? ;-)

The years come, the years go, and not a lot of news about MorphOS ”NG”/”4.0”/”AMD64”/”x64”…

    :-/
MorphOS is Amiga done right! :-)
MorphOS NG will be AROS done right! :-)

Perhaps they try to satisfy _all_ our wishes stated here simultaneously (Morphos on x86_64, arm64, Wii U ppc32, Blackbird ppc64) and that's why it is taking that long. ;-)

Maybe a little reason that it is taking long is also because at least parts of MorphOS were never really written with portability (32 bit <-> 64 bit, endianess) in mind. Even code that's based on other sources which were initally written with portability in mind (like AROS stuff) had/has MorphOS specific changes/fixes/enhancements that assumed everything would forever be big endian, 32 bit, AOS 68k like alignment, MOS 68k<->PPC call interface (hooks, libcalls, REG_#?).

That may not be super hard/slow to fix, but maybe is super annoying and maybe a bit hard to get motivated to do.

MOS Team may made Morphos Open source.
And let everybody use it on whatever want.

It’s not the closed source model that’s holding things back. The MorphOS developers today represents the brightest and most skilled developers in the entire Amiga sphere, their low level OS development skills (in quality and quantity) can’t be seen anywhere else. If the MorphOS Team would drop it, nobody else could pick up the ball and do better. If they can’t find the time or motivation to go on, then it is what it is.

But they haven’t dropped the ball. I just hope they would have put the migration to a HW platform still alive a little bit higher on their priority list. Things feel kind of hopeless with PPC now, and tied to this there is no future whatsoever, so there is no point with anything really. My whole interest with MorphOS from the beginning, was a new Amiga platform *going forward*, something Next Generation, an alternative platform on modern hardware. It was never retro computing. But Retro is what MorphOS becomes on the PPC with no hope of becoming something else.
MorphOS is Amiga done right! :-)
MorphOS NG will be AROS done right! :-)
