    Hi.

    Which CD-Player would I use?

I tried Jukebox with drag&drop the tracks from a CD.
Also I tried "cdplayer2.lha". But for some reason it doesn't find the CD rom drive which is CDDA0:

    Cheers,

    I use Songplayer.

But in most cases I don't play cds directly anyway, but instead rip & convert them immediately with Ripper to RAM:, and decide after listening wether or not I keep the files.

Whenever you're sad just remember the world is 4.543 billion years old and you somehow managed to exist at the same time as David Bowie.

I'd like to put in my old CDs and play them as is.

Is "CD Player" known to not work anymore?

Being an old man who remembers playing vinyl records in my youth, I can understand the desire to be able to just pop a CD into your MorphOS computer, and have it play all tracks of the CD, without needing to interact with it at all (just like dropping a record on the player and moving the needle to the beginning of the record, or if it was a high end player, pushing a button to have the needle arm move to the beginning of the record automatically). But now I would rather save the wear and tear on my original CD's, and just rip the tracks to files, and play them that way, saving the CD for a time when I might need to rip the files again, if my hdd, or ssd gets corrupted, or otherwise damaged, or if I just want the files on a different computer, and it is inconvenient to copy the files across. Just my 4 cents (usually 2 cents, but I'm always long winded).
MorphOS - The best Next Gen Amiga choice.

I think this older version of "CD Player" just puts CD drive to play the CD in physical way, you'd need the drive to wired to some audio system to hear anything. This is pretty uncommon setup nowadays, and I don't know if that could be done in Macs at all. In old times you wired your CD-ROM drive to your audio card which mixed the inputs to the single output and then you heard them just like played with a stand-alone CD player device.

But there's a newer version of it available here: http://amigazeux.net/cdplayer/down.php
This 2.1 version allows you to stream the CD data software wise to your system's audio output (through AHI), so it'll work on all setups. Songplayer also does this, so that's why many of us use it.

BTW. you have to configure these programs to use the actual device driver (ide.device for example), not the mounted virtual audio CD (like CDDA0:). If your CD drive is connected as a slave to the primary IDE port, then the device would be ide.device unit 1.
