Some users here and me have a strange error when upgrading MorphOS 3.3 from a previous version (here on Power Mac G4).

The installation is the standard one :

    - burn the ISO on a CD.
    - launch the CD
    - the choice of the kayboard/country appears

But then a window with "the boot.img is too old" appears and the system reboots.

The problem can be solved by a manual copy of the boot.img v3.3 and the Boot partition and a relaunch of the CD.

Are the MorphOS developpers aware of this issue? How to solve it (without a manual copy of the boot.img)? Is it a problem with the Open Firmware?

    Thank you.

Have you tried booting the computer while pressing C or ALT, and then choosing the CD in the boot menu?

The CD will behave like this if you boot the computer in an ordinary fashion.

There's nothing strange. You have to boot from the CD to be able install/update the system. If you boot from the HD, it has older version of boot.img. To boot from the CD follow Yasu's advices. Remember that Macs won't boot from the inserted CD automatically. If you have MorphOS installed on the HD and you don't do proper CD boot, then old boot.img is loaded and MorphOS itself boots from the device with highest boot priority, which can be CD in this case and that's why it looks like booting from CD, but in fact it isn't fully booted from it.

JPV : I think you're right. I was lauching the CD without "ALT" or "C". So the CD boots but it's the HD's boot.img.

    Thanks !

Why U burn CD??? Update it by USB PenDrive :)

    - boot usb0/@1:,\boot.img bi=dh2:morphos-3.3.iso

    morphos-3.3.iso put to dh2:
boot.img put from xxx.iso /mac_ppc32/ to USb Pendrive and thats it!
