DMA lockups with PegXLin :(

    Hi
the new PegXLin CD is great and MOL runs on first try. .. unfortunately, i get random DMA lockups, even though i boot with the ide=nodma argument.
with the "standard" pegasos debian woody contrib, i never had any lockups when booting with ide=nodma.
unfortunately, this renders pegxlin unusable here, although my machine has an april II board. . .

    any hints???
    has anyone else encountered this?

(i have a cd burner and hd on one cable at the first ide port, 1gig ram and mos runs fine. . . )

    regards

    I have a Pegasos/April II and haven't
experienced any lock ups on PegXLin
with dma turned on. Perhaps it's
    something else happening in Linux,
like the 1Gig ram is not compatible
for instance? I have a HD on the
first ide connector/port and a CDRW
    drive on the second port.

Maybe you don't have properly supported ram modules. They could work nice with mos... but not with linux. So if you have more than 256MB of ram you could try to boot with the mem=256m argument for the OF boot command.

    e.g.
    boot pegxlin root=/dev/hdb4 video=radeon mem=256m hdc=ide-scsi hdd=ide-scsi l2cr=0x80000000

    :-)

    hi
ram can not be the problem, as the debian woody stable distro (the "standard" pegasos linux, worked flawlessly when booted with the ide=nodma argument.
i had it running until several days ago, when i exchanged it with pegxlin.

    regards

    hi
thanks to all repliers, but i now the problem is solved:

the developer told me, that in etcinit.d/hdparm the dma is switched on, so the boot parameter did not last long. . . :)

    regards and stuff
