    Hi guys!

I'm looking for a good file manager, I want it to have a dirtree on the left and files on the right, kind of like finder in mac or explorer for win. I got used to this look in my many years running osx. back in the amigayears I allways used DOpus 4 but now it feels not so userfriendly anymore. A big plus would be if I could right click on files to get a menu to extract, rename, delet and such things.

Would be awsome if I somehow could get ambient to have a dir-tree on the left, that would realy be what I'm looking for.

And I'm also in the search for a tool to rename a big bunch of files.
What I have is a lot of .png files that I want to rename to .info.
I've tried DlxRename witch does the trick but only handles 30 charaters, and a lot of the files have realy long names.
Buuf and GANT icon sets. =)

    Thanks in advance!

A dir tree sidepanel was somehow planned, but never materialized. That said, the path buttons on top of the view are rather handy too, once you're used to it.

Ambient can navigate into archives or extract several archives at once using contextmenu. You can customize this to your liking.

Ambient has this functionality : just select the related files (which btw you can do by pressing keypad * or the filter toolbar function) and then choose rename : in the first field, you would type *.info and in the second field *.png.

Now that I have been using ambient as my filemanager for a little while I get to like it more and more. I also noticed that if I use "My MorphOS"/dubble click on desktop I get a much nicer filemanager than if I go into the harddrive directly. Hope you understand what I'm trying to explan. =)
