I have a pretty sweet MorphOS setup on my Peg II. I have a lot of legacy Amiga apps installed, that I don't want to reinstall. Can I copy my MorphOS configuration to my Powerbook? What would be the best way without screwing everything up?

Assuming you've got 3.1 installed on the Pegasos already, you just need to copy the whole system partition over. Just install MorphOS on the PowerBook first to have the boot.img set up, then boot from a CD again, format the system partition on the PB and copy the Pegasos' system partition in its place.

I'd use either tar or http://files.morphos.pl/find.php?e&find=MirrorCopy to move files over so that fs protection bits and softlinks are preserved.

OK... I have 3.1 installed on my PB already I'll give this a try sometime this week. I dont have anything important on the PB so nothing to lose! :-D

You might want to backup some config files from Powerbook, if you have already set it up in some degree and copy them over after copying the Peg2 system.

    For example:
    SYS:Prefs/Env-Archive/sys/interfaces
    SYS:Devs/morphos.key
    SYS:Prefs/Env-Archive/sys/PublicScreens.prefs
    SYS:Prefs/Env-Archive/MUI/screens.txt

And of course if you have different partitioning on Peg than on PB, preserve partition names or use assigns to adapt the system, so that all configs find their paths.

I need to do that often, I mean copy the whole system from one machine to others, I use Jalapeno to do an iso file of the system partition which I want on the other machines, copy it to an external usb stick or hd, boot the new machine from CD, format the system partition, open the iso file and copy clone all in a shell. Then I just replace config files like interfaces, screen.txt, etc.

Prodection bits are preserved, I'm not sure about softlinks though.

Worked pretty good. How do I reset the driver for ethernet? It's trying to use my Pegasos Ethernet Drivers. That and Rexxsys lib is missing.

It seems I forgot to copy the hidden folders on my Pegasos. 8-)

Fixed the issue by copying items over. Machine boots great now. Just need to save up for a license.
