Hmmm. Having just gone back and tested again, my old archive now works with Youtube again.
It's possible that my last-gasp effort of reinstalling coincided with Youtube un-breaking something.
The difference was night and day though - the old archive showed EZdownload links, but linked to blank content, & the player showed 'you must install flash' message, even though most videos seemed to play behind the message and audio worked.
The reinstalled OWB showed vids perfectly as expected.
Now they both work.
Youtube sucks.
