    I have been trying to mount and use to programs in adf format that I downloaded from Internet, without success.

    One is Page Streasm which was originally packed as a lha that I extracted to a folder I called "PageStream" in System: Apps/PageStream. I then used FileManager to assign the images (4 in total equivalent to 4 disks). Finalli Mounted the four disks with Mounter. I got 4 images of disks on my desktop (Ambient), but the PageStream Installer doesn't start or work.

    The second program is teh game Xenon, which I downloaded from the links under Downloads in this forum. I used the same wrokflow as described above, but after I mount the file it doesn't show up anywhere.

    Could anyone tell me if I'm missing something, a step perhaps?

    It's possible that Xenon is a non-DOS disk, so it's normal if you see nothing on Ambient.

    Does the installer return any error message? Have you tried opening the install script with old (68k) installer?

    Most of the old games don't use any standard filesystem on their disks, they use their own custom loaders and those can't be mounted. Those games probably hit the custom hardware in Amigas too, so they won't work under MorphOS directly. You have to use UAE for them and then it's same to keep them as ADF.. or get WHDLoad installed version to run under UAE too.

    BTW. are you sure you downloaded it from this forum?

    I can't find it there. Could you give the exact link please?

    sys:tools/snoopium is a useful tool for monitoring system activity.
    If you run snoopium, then try the pagestream installer, it may show what is 'failing'.

    Also, you could try right-clicking on the installation script icon and select 'information'. The resulting dialog box should show the default tool (if one is set). Often with older software, this is set to use a version of installer bundled with the sofvtware to be installed.
    If this is the case, try changing it to the installer included with MorphOS (c:installer).

    Regards

    Out of interest, what does the 'mount' button do in FileImageCtrl?

    The quickhelp states that it should mount the filesystem available on the inserted disk images, it doesn't seem to have any effect - hence the OP needing to use mounter instead.

    "Mount" in FileImageCtrl works (at least for .adf files) if you select a filesystem from the list first (it doesn't need to be the correct one though). Or at least morphos.pl states so.

    Thanks Koszer, that worked.

    Any of the listed filesystems starting with 'Amiga' work (eg Amiga-FFS, Amiga-OFS). All others (eg NTFS, PFS3, and the default 'Auto (RDB, MBR, MAC)') do nothing for an adf.

    A few explanatory notes in the quickhelp for the fielsystem gadget would really be useful here, eg:

    For Amiga floppy disk images (eg adf, dms) select Amiga-OFS;
    For CD/DVD images (eg iso) select CDFS;
    For partition images (eg hardfiles) select the filesystem to which the partition was formatted.

    I do miss out on a lot of useful information, being unable to read any Polish. :-(
