Dopus 4 config

I would like to use Dopus 4 on Morpos, but by default the interface is too small for me. The fonts are tiny and the buttons much smaller than my OS3/4 setups, also when clicking graphics (jpg/gif/png) they are displayed as HEX rather than in a viewer.

This should be simple to change right? Well check I use the config app it crashes when I click Fonts, and when I try to change File Types, the config app just locks up.

Everything else in the config seems to work ok, I just cannot change how files are handled or fonts, which are the two things I want.

    Here's my Dopus screenshot: http://i.imgur.com/uSk9t.png

I would like it to look more like AmigaOS version. I have tried copying the OS4 version config over to MOS but no difference, any ideas?

Which version of DOpus do you use?

I didn't go into the font configuration for ages (I configured DOpus when I was under MorphOS 1.x), I'll check if it still works this evening.

FYI: I use v4.16 (last 68k stable I guess); it works perfectly.

I know about the MorphOS native version but the 68k version works and looks better for me.

I have Dopus 4.18 MorphOS compiled version, this is the version I'm having problems with. The main thing I need is for images to be shown in multiview not HEX, but as I say, when I click the File Types button from config the system just locks up. Fonts doesn't lock system up but the config app stops responding.

I tried downloading a 68K version from: http://dopus.free.fr/download.php (4.16) but it just crashes on launch (error trapper appears): http://i.imgur.com/uZ59u.jpg

FIXED: Ok I tried redownloading the latest 68K version and manually installing, I was trying to launch it from within the lha file before and it crashed.

68K version working great, and config works too! Seems Morphos version uses an older 68K (incompatible) config tool.

Thanks for the help, I'll stick with 4.16 68K :)

Ok, I did some test here too and I can confirm that the old 68k version works much better. The MorphOS one here freezed my machine everytime I tried to change the fonts config.

But my question is: running DOpus 4 in 2011 is really so needed? Ambient listers are good enough for file operations (much better than in the ealier versions of MorphOS). I abandoned DOpus 5 as total desktop replacement since MorphOS 2.6 and it has not been easy, I admit, but hey we are speaking about the Magellan, it is another world.

I recovered my old config file for 68k Dopus which was very extensive.
I am using 4.18 Dopus ppc.
Yes, the 68k config in 4.18 crashes a lot.
Surprised to hear the full 68k version does not.
Never got Dopus 5 to work well.

Glad to have it working. For me, yeah Dopus 4 is still a lot faster to just have running on a separate screen and jump to. I was never a fan of Magellan/5 really, Ambient is nice as a Workbench replacement, but Dopus 4 is faster for doing batch operations/un-lhas, displaying long drawers of content etc.

You can run DOpus5 the same way as DOpus4. I run DOpus Magellan II on MorphOS, but not as an Ambient replacement.

    @danwood

I don't want to change your habits, but just for information, it's also possible to process custom actions over a multiple selection in Ambient. :)
