I am trying to download opensuse 12.1 4.7gb image and OWB says its 1.9gb. I downloaded it on my linux box and it is 4.7GB. This is on a MacMini with MorphOS 2.7

Is the problem in OWB or ?

What file system are you using on the drive you're downloading to?

If the filesystem on your target partition does not support files bigger than 4GB then this is normal. Use a filesystem that supports big files and your download will work.

OWB upper layers (including MUI part) have support for >4GB files, but i guess the issue is in my CURL build itself, since i didn't enable large file support there.

probably not too many MorphOS or Amiga files that are >4gb, or even >2gb that people would be downloading.

To download such a large file, I would use my Windows PC, or Mac, or another Linux PC.

It's probably not about "MorphOS or Amiga files".

Isn't this exactly what it's all about, i.e. the MorphOS users becoming more and more able to use MorphOS for all their computing needs without having to resort to another OS or machine for certain tasks?

Andreas hit the nail on the head. I also have Freespace 2 to transfer..its a 2.2gb archive..can't transfer that either. Not doing something because of a bug isn't the right answer.

I don't disagree that the "Bug" should be fixed, just commenting that it probably does not show up often, which is probably why it was not reported earlier.

With the current Ethernet drivers for MorphOS, I can download about twice as fast on my Windows PC, or MacOSX running on the same hardware as MorphOS2.7, so I would still use them for downloading and then transfer the files with a USB stick, or shared directory on the same machine, until this situation is improved in MorphOS.

Not the preferred way to do things, just a fact of the current state of drivers that will hopefully improve with age.

I, like most other MorphOS users would prefer to do all tasks while running MorphOS, instead of using another computer, or booting into a different OS.

Andreas is right. This is a new day for Amiga users, and not all of our files are Amiga related, nor are they small. When I get back on-line at home again I'll be expecting to be able to download huge files as well. It is rare, but when I need to, I want to be able to.

    Maybe.

In fact, it will probably be fixed now that i have enabled large file support in curl, but i don't plan to release a new version just for that.

I can't quite see how one single posting in one thread plus 8 postings in a second thread (so 9 postings in total) can make for 2 long threads :-P

At least that's what my reading skills tell me, yes :-)
