Tried with Geit's Installer v 1.37 and 1.39 both quit at 0% complaining about a range out of value on line 11xxsomething..

Tried with Installer 43.3 from Amiga Technologies and it went till 5% where I was able to choose which package to install (IFX, Extras, Brushes, Powerstation etc) but then it quit as well.

So back to square one, is there any safe tutorial regarding IFX installation on MorphOS? Will IFX CD installer from OS4depot do the trick under OS4emu?

    It's a script so OS4Emu won't be necessary.

Though luck, seems that the OS4 installation script stop after completing step 18 out of 19 :(

If anyone has a trouble free installation tutorial for IFX, would be nice to join the conversation..

Why don´t do it manually? Unpack .lha-files and copy them to your destination...is`s self-explaining - nothing complex to install...(If you have problems send me PM - I can give you the Dir-tree to see correct location of every File/Dir..)

Btw.: MOS Superbundle includes a MOS-native version of ImageFX (ImageFX Lite from 15.9.2003) -think it´s better to get this release.....

I've had ImageFX 4.5 working on MOS for years, though I don't remember exactly how I installed it! Pretty sure I copied over the Dir tree from an Amithlon machine, so using the installer wasn't involved.

I'd say unpack it and give it a try.

ImageFX Lite is a cut-down compile of ImageFX 3. And it's still m68k, not MorphOS-native.

ImageFX Lite is a cut-down compile of ImageFX 3. And it's still m68k, not MorphOS-native.

Actually in ImageFX Lite there are a few additional PowerPC modules. In my installed version there is a file containing the text I report below between the star lines:

    ****** Start of file .../ImageFX4/Logs/MOS_details.txt

    PowerStation for MorphOS ©Nova Design
    http://www.novadesign.com
Extra PowerPC modules updated and compiled by Sigbjørn \"CISC\" Skjæret for Nova Design.
Installer by Thomas Krehbiel, updated for SuperBundle and ImageFX 4.5 by Dave \"Targhan\" Crawford

When you start ImageFX for the first time, please do the following:
    1) Open the Prefs window.
    2) Under \"Modules\", select \"Render...\".
    3) From the requester, select \"CyberGraphX\"; then, OK.
    4) Then, Select \"Save\" from the Preferences window.
    5) Finally, save the preferences as Default.prefs by clicking OK.

    Text Hook
Your original Text Hook has been moved to the hooks directory as Text_4X.
When using the Text hook from the button, please ensure that MorphOS has
Ambient font antialiasing turned OFF when using the ImageFX Text-Hook.

    ;====================================

    ****** End of file .../ ImageFX4/Logs/MOS_details.txt

Actually CISC added four files. They are stored in the directory
        .../ImageFX4/Modules/PowerUp/
    and are
       Lightning.elf
       PageCurler.elf
       PNG_L.elf
       PNG_S.elf
all dated Dec-2003 instead of Mar-1999 or Apr-1999 like the others.

There are even two special loaders
       JPEG.ppc
       PNG.ppc
    in the directory
       .../ImageFX4/Modules/Loaders/
but these are not ".elf" files.
Powered by PegasosII-G4, MacMini, PowerMac MDD.

Finally I managed to install it. The 43.3 Installer finally did the trick. Yesterday's first attempt resulted with some missing modules but afterwards I completely nailed it :P
Now, onto my photoshop skills :D

Can you track down the bug, so Geit can fix his Installer?

IFX4.5 should install just fine from the Studio CD

I only have a pre-April machine so I can't test on MOS higher than 1.4 or whatever it is. I am assuming that MOS 2 still has it's folders separated between classical system files (where the IFX needs it's system files) and the new MOS system files.

THE ONLY files from the Studio CD the user has to manually check for is the Newest Text hook and the Newest Png saver/loader. They will have the date dec 2003 but I think I have more specific info somewhere else in this thread.

To repeat: the Studio CD had the install script made Specifically to install on MOS systems. There should be no problems.

I bought mine online before MOS even ran on a mac. It was a digital download to I got a zip file. I have no idea if it is MOS compatible, but it installed fine and runs.

    If it runs it's MorphOS-compatible I'd say :-)
