MEnCoder to convert to mp3

    I have a mp4 streamdump from mplayer, which I would like to convert to mp3 using mencoder. How is this done? I didn't see how on the hp. The gui gave me an avi. Any help on how to go about this and with the command?

    mplayer Videofile -dumpaudio -dumpfile RAM:File.mp3

    it converted, but the file doesn't play. Does it matter that the initial file was audio with still backgroud (youtube)?

    Yeah - found out at the moment that it doesnt run with mp4 - only with flv...etc.
    Will search for another method - maybe you have to transform it to aiff first....

    The following could work:
    mplayer <file.mp4> -ao pcm fast
    (the out-file is a .wav and will lay in the current directory).
    You can convert the wav with Ripper to mp3......
    Not the direct way, I know - but i didn't find during the last minutes a better way - maybe tomorrow....
